Holmes Place looks very sleek and attractive, the locker rooms are full of extra amenities and all of the equipment is very new. I really enjoyed their lunchtime yoga classes, which are a nice peaceful break in the day, and with the abundant windows there are great views from all of the cardio machines. However, I had a problem with their personal training policies. First of all, it’s not possible to hire a personal trainer for a single session, you have to buy a monthly package of sessions for several hundred dollars. Secondly, only 2 trainers are qualified to work with you on all of the equipment in the gym (and they’re always booked up). The rest of the trainers on staff are only qualified to work with you on some of the equipment, excluding things like resistance bands and the exercise ball. Finally, I was surprised that the gym does not have a staff member assigned to the job of going over a client’s interests and goals in order to match them up with a personal trainer. I

Quads gym is a rare find if you have been looking for a serious body building gym in Chicago. This gym is not like some of the other bubble gum health clubs in the city. Downstairs is all cardio equipment, with an area for stretching and abs. The upstairs is a combination of state of the art equipment, and old school weights. They have everything from hammer strength machines to old school dumbells and weights. It’s not a gym that gets super busy. Usually their rush hour is between 5pm and 7pm, and even then it’s not too bad. One draw back is the parking. If you are driving, you will be forced to park at a meter on the street. If you do find yourself on the northside, check this place out. You have to look for though because it’s tucked away on Broadway. I think a day pass is ten bucks, but I can’t be sure since I’m a member.Pros + Best Serious body building gymCons – Equipment is to close together

I have to admit I was totally against joining this place after watching the heavily done up girls and primped guys walk into it day after day (I live right next to it), BUT I joined when I quit my job…
