Where is the Best Group Dining in Providence, Rhode Island?
I have been going to Wrights farm for over 20 years and always enjoy eating there. Their food and method of operation never changes which is just the way the people that love going there want it. My only complaint with Wrights is the fact that they have never accepted credit or debit cards claiming they “pass the savings on to you”. Despite the fact I still feel their restaurant is great and will always be a customer there, I have to take note that their prices have steadily rose over the years and never level off for long. As of this writing the price was $10.75 per person. Not too heavy a price, but certainly no bargain anymore on a dinner of cheap items like bone in chicken, pasta, fries, and salad. Their prices have always gone up even while other restaurants seem to holding the line, AND excepting credit cards. I can’t help but feel that Wrights is no longer passing on any savings to us, (if they ever did) but pocketing and profiting well on price increases. Pros + Great
Food; had the fish & chips and a bowl of baked onion soup. Food was ok, baked onion soup was a little salty and we got a pretty big piece of fish but it had a layer of batter that was a little under cooked. I just picked off the batter and ate the fish. Pickles were good. Ambiance; wife and I sat on the pub end because they were busy, normally it is that way. Plenty of room to spread out. Area was lit a little dimly, had the smell of the deodorizer from the restrooms to deal with. Service; waitress did an awesome job, she was right on top of everything. Value; we paid $35 for 2 orders of fish & chips, baked onion soup, soda and 1 beer plus tip. Wife and I have been going here for over 10 years. Food has always been good here this time around was a little below par for them but I will be going back. They make the best comfort food and desserts. Recommend it.
We got lucky and found a parking space right in front of Brick Alley. Not know anything about it except the awards posted by the front door, we took a chance and were very happy with our lunch. My husband’s steak and cheese sandwich was huge and very good, I chose the Buffalo chicken pizza and this was wonderful, just really tasty. My sister picked the club sandwich and it was very generous too. Can’t wait to go back and try the dinner options sometime. Our server was pleasant and refilled drinks right way – nice. The salad bar looked good. Bathrooms were spotless, which is one of my criteria for a top rating.Pros + Good food, great portions, friendly staff who looked like they enjoy working thereCons – parking (its Newport after all), not much else!
