Where is the Best Group Dining in Oakland, California?
The really enjoyed the atmosphere at Americano. The seats are very comfortable, and I like the modern space. The place certainly draws an attractive and trendy crowd. Service and food were good, but not great. I liked the soup and steak that I ordered, but they weren’t much different from what I make at home, and there are some neighborhood restaurants that have better food at a lower price. But, higher prices are to be expected at this prime location. The ferry building and waterfront looked great out the window on a dark and slightly foggy night.I was surprised the server did not keep pouring our wine – we had to do it ourselves. But otherwise, the service was friendly and well-timed. The hostess was especially friendly and warm.
A friend from the East Bay picked this restaurant as a meeting point for a group of us to have our quarterly lunch – most of us coming from S.F. We were impressed immediately with the atmosphere and general ambiance and most importantly because we could have a conversation and hear one another easily. It was a Saturday brunch when we dined and the first experience with the Fat Lady for all. The food was wonderful (from salads to eggs & french toast) but took a very long time to be served which was concerning as the place was not busy and no where near full to capacity and arriving early, we had been the first to order. The waitress did let us know however that there would be a delay in getting our food after we had waited more than half an hour after ordering. As it was a social occasion for us it was not an issue but what really spoiled the entire experience was that the bill was delivered immediately without an inquiry as to whether we wanted any thing additional such as desert
My co-worker and I decided to go out for dinner. Our concierge recommended The Cosmopolitan. The walk was close to our hotel. When we got there we were seated very promptly even though we did not have a reservation. Our waiter was extremely nice and knowledgeable of the food. He never made us feel stupid for asking questions about the food. After ordering, our drinks and some amazing bread were served promptly along with my salad appetizer. Not too long after I was finished with my salad, our food came. The presentation was fabulous and the food was delicious! Some of the homemade ingredients and fresh produce were fantastic! I can’t wait to go back. With such a high quality of food, I was surprised to see my bill which was at least $20 less than what I had expected to pay for dinner that night.
