Where is the Best Group Dining in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
The atmosphere at Redstone is the only reason we go- and we’re there usually twice a month because there are so few choices out here in the ‘burbs. What is it in Minnesota that there’s nada for decent dining in the suburbs- other cities are not this way.Redstone has beautiful landscaping and patio. The bar is huge and cozy. The service is usually very good with some exceptions. Their Sunday brunch is wonderful. The food though- boy. The menu is so boring and so 1998 Tomato, Basil, Mozarella Pizzas, Ahi Tuna, Buffalo Shrimp– then there’s the TGI Fridays-worthy Calamari and Artichoke Spinach Dip. Main dishes feature-Steak, Chicken, Porkchops. They’ve narrowed their menu down more in the last couple months (in anticipation of expansion?) which made it even worse. They used to have a perfect salmon, capers, boiled egg plate that was divine with a Martini- it’s gone now. The salads are boring, their sides are boring and their mashed potatoes have changed for the worse too. T
This was my first time to the restaurant here in Minnesota and I was really disappointed. I have eaten at other Benihana’s and have had no problems. We arrived early because we were with a large group of family members (16) for an important birthday dinner. Like a normal big group everyone hadn’t arrived at the same time so we started in the bar area with a cocktail and light conversation. We were approached within a couple minutes to follow a waiter and take our seats, we asked if they could wait five minutes for others to arrive and they became very angry and frustrated with us saying that they had to seat us right away all for different reasons that didn’t make much sense. It was a late Monday evening and there weren’t very many people there but they treated us as if there were a line out the door. We had two tables because of how large our group was and they sat us clear across the restuarant from each other even with a reservation for all guests. Once we were seated the chef was g
I went there for drinks and although the bar was busy, the bartender took time to make something special. I am not a big drinker so he asked me what flavors liked, how strong I would like the drink to be, and he came up with a great custom drink! What ever he made, I love it and have gone back a few times with friends to enjoy them. Great service, ask for Ben.Pros + serviceCons – none
The service is what impressed me most; very attentive and knowedgable. Food presentation was first rate, with an appetizing placement of foods and sauces. My party and I enjoyed a wide array of items; From poultry, to steak, to seafood. All were deemed very good to excellent. I myself enjoyed the Salmon Oscar, a large portion of very fresh Atlantic salmon filet blanketed with equally fresh crab meat, lightly dressed in a velvatine rich bernaisse. The side of garlic mashed potatoes were a savory compliment to the complex flavors of the entree. An appetizer of crab cakes with dijon aloui sauce was both delightful and well presented. With tables adequately spaced, a fine harp presentation providing background, the dining area colored in floral design, and natural and candle-lit ambiance, I would rate this as one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.Pros + Service, Food, AmbianceCons – Parking, Coat Room Location
