This was one of the best restaurants I have been to. My fiance and I went on the recommendation of her brother to celebrate her birthday. The place was not to hard to find and there was no problem getting a table (it was later on a monday night). Well upkept inside with warm atmosphere. We started our meal with a french onion soup which was cooler than I expected but tasted good. She ordered a 10 oz sirlion which comes w/ a salad, vegie, and potato. I ordered a broiled sirlion w/ garlic and blue cheese topping along with the same sides. The steaks looked amazing and the flavor and tenderness were even better. When I picture a steak in my head, shamus’s is it, thick juicy and medium rare. Can’t say enough about it. She pointed out how great the vinegrette tasted on her salad. I tried some myself and it was very good. I also had french fries with my steak, yes, and they were great as well. Crunchy outside with mashed potato-like inside are my favorite. We did squeeze a

I was considering moving to NY and flew to Buffalo to check out the area in Nov., 2002. A friend of mine picked me up at the Buffalo Airport and took me to The Boston Hotel for my first meal, where I enjoyed the best filet I have ever eaten. I moved to the Chautauqua area shortly afterwards and lived in NY state for almost a year and ate at The Boston Hotel frequently. I found the food and the service to be consistently good. My favorites were, or course, the Hotel’s filet, their clams (which they are famous for) and the scampi. I, also, enjoyed the quaint ambience of The Boston Hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the Buffalo area.Pros + reasonably priced, good food & service, quaint atmosphere

I remember several outstanding NY style pizza places here in the 1960s – gone now. When I returned after living in New York and New Jersey I was stunned by just how bad the local pizza was. Thick, doughy, chewy like catsup on thick bread. But then I found Gino & Joes. One of only 2 real NY Style pizzerias in the city (the other is Zetti’s) if you like thin crust, great sauce, large slice pizza this is the place to go! Just wish they had more stores and were open on weekends and nights.Pros + Inexpensive, Great PizzaCons – Closed nights

Pleasantly surprised. Of course we’ve all heard about this place, but I kept hearing from Buffalo residents that even though it’s home to the original buffalo wing, that “it’s not that great’. I beg to differ. The wings were excellent. Too many restaurants in this city are in the habit of overcooking the chicken and just smothering it in Buffalo sauce. You can dip a piece of cardboard in Buffalo sauce and have it taste the same. Anchor Bar does it right by not overcooking the wings – they were juicy and delicious. I will go again. I also like the atmosphere, the pictures on the walls, the pub feel. It’s great.
