Where is the Best Group Dining in Austin, Texas?
I’ve been here for HH many times but never on a Friday and we never have sat at the bar until this Saturday. My girlfriend and I had dinner here this past Sat. before we went out for the evening and our experience was a “first class, five star” service. The really funny thing were the two bartenders making us laugh because they were joking with one of the guest about not getting them two confuse, one has hair and one doesn’t. The “no hair” guy greeted us and took our order. He went as far as placing napkins down for us. He just didn’t take our order and ran off to make drinks. He made sure we were comfortable and satisfied before he moved on. My comment was, “Wow! VIP treatment”! We both agreed! Both of them checked on us and “no hair” made us an “Asian Love” martini. That was the best drink I ever had made with champagne. As we were sitting there, one thing we both notice was that everyone comes over to this guy and he treats everyone of them with the same courtesy. We’ve b
My boyfriend and I booked a room here for a weekend on priceline and got a great price! The bedding was ridiculously comfortable and there was a great flat screen tv and ipod player/alarm clock. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful as we were in town for a wedding and needed our clothes to be pressed. the only con was that we thought we were going to be able to walk to 6th street but didn’t want to walk that far (it’s really not that far but there’s a bridge) however, the cab ride wasn’t expensive at all. The pool was really nice as well, i believe it was a saltwater pool and is literally next to the river. I will definitely stay here the next time im in town. Pros + comfort, great staff, poolCons – wakling distance from downtown
I have been to several special events at Sicola’s – corporate holiday parties, wedding rehearsals, a 40th birthday party – and have always enjoyed the private setting. I wish I would have thought to do this. For years you hosted these types of occassions at upscale restaurants. However, you’re always competing with the restaurant’s crowd even if you are in a private room. You are still sharing the facility. Having an event at Sicola’s is like renting out the entire restaurant without spending as much as that would cost to do. Brilliant!
My husband and I ate there with a couple of friends. I had the Tuna Melt (juicy and savory!) and hubby had a Double Flatty Burger (also excellent). The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. You can choose to eat in the dining room, which has the feel of a classic burger joint. Or you can go eat on the “Back Patio” which is a LARGE deck area with an assortment of tables and a HUGE bigscreen TV where they show sports games. If you eat out there, you can have your dog with you. They even have theme nights especially for people and their dogs. I wish I could eat there regularly, but I live too far away from Austin!Pros + excellent food, fun relaxed atmosphereCons – There are no Hubs close to where I live!
My fiance and I went here on a Sat. night on the recommendation of the hotel that we were staying at. We were seated right away but it took our waitress about 5 minutes to greet us. After she finally showed up she must have taken another 5-7 mins to come back with our drinks. As usual my fiance hadn’t made up her mind on what to get on the menu which turned out being a 15 min smoke break for our waitress. I exaggerate on the smoke break part but not at all the time that it took for her to get back to us to take our order. The food however made up for the lackluster service. For the appetizer we had the tuna tartar which was exceptional. For our entrees I had the flounder special which was heavenly while my fiance had the halibut which was also good, but not nearly as good as the flounder. I would go back, but perhaps next time I’ll get it to take back to our room.
