Where is the Best Group Dining in Albany, New York?
The reservation person told me they were serving a party of 70 that evening, and I guess she was trying to warn me, but she assured us she could accommodate us. My party of 6 arrived promptly for our 7:00 p.m. reservation. Forty minutes later we were finally seated, after a stressed-out hostess told us there wasn’t anything she could do to get us seated. We were really put out, but they tried to make it up to us with three free appetizers. The tortellini and calamari were very good, but the bruschetta was soggy and tomatoes weren’t ripe. Our waiter was very personable, tried hard to attend to our needs, but the entire waitstaff were sweating with the exertion of trying to serve what was obviously an over-booked night. After the appetizers, we were hopeful that our meals would arrive promptly, but it was not to be so. Went with a group of ten. Service was friendly and effiicient. Some oredered dinner and some sandwiches but most of us shared two large pizzas and two large antipastos. The pizzas were very good – sauce tasty, plentiful cheese and toppings. The antipasto had some great items: marinated mushrooms, sweet and mild peppers, meats and cheeses but the only greens were the white part of icebery lettuce. There was not enough dressing on the lettuce. We will go back because we enjoyed the pizza and the dry greens could be rectified by asking for extra dressing. The Minneapolis downtown Bucca was really crowded on Saturday night. We chose Bucca’s to dine as we have always loved the tortellini along with the garlic mashed potatoes. Noting it was not on the menu, we asked our waitress and she stated she was very sorry and that she had head the complaint several times previously. She did go into the kitchen to see if they had any tortellini that could be cooked for us.(they didn’t). Which means it could not have been long taken off menu. We ordered the checken fettucenine and it was very good and we were pleasantly full. But just so you know, it was NOT as good a tortellini!!! Please bring this item back to the menu if possible. 1. The draft beer was cold and large.2. The waiter was right there and quick.3. They seated us in a remote area even though there were plenty of seats where other custimers were–this is not necessarily a bad thing.4. Utica Greens appetizer was great–I am glad I asked to not have the garlic–not the soupy beans and greens I expected, but very good!5. Clam chowder could have been eaten with a fork6. I am a low carber so the pasta with the Veal Marsala was a waste for me…however the veal was fine—I thankfully had my glasses on so I could see the garlic in the pasta so I could remove it!7. My wife’s meal brought this comment from her: ‘This has to be the most ‘garlicy’ food I have ever eaten’. …and she like garlic! This is a negative comment.8.
