Where is the Best French Food in Portland, Oregon?
No more tableside cooking: Used to be five stars now four stars. New chef and no tableside cooking is a big change for us. The food is still very good and John Louie is the best waiter in Portland. I hope they bring back the tableside service. That is a big problem for us.Stu CookPros + best waiter in portland is John LouieCons – no more tableside cooking
My wife and I attended La Traviata at the Zeller Auditorium last Friday night, and we dined at Carafe both before and afterward. We have eatten at Carafe numerous times the past 4 years, and we have always found the food and service to be excellent (my wife is a professionally trained chef, and we dine out often). We arrived at the restaurant, prior to the show, without reservations, and we were quickly seated. We told our server we would be attending the opera that evening, and that we were looking to have a small bite before the show. We admit, we have become regulars. Weekday breakfast is great. Weekends are very crowded, and the place is not sound proof. I love their omlettes and if you don’t like salt, avoid Feta (duhhh). Some people like savory, som don’t. Service is always efficient and kind, but over worked usually. Love that they are very close to home. If you haven’t given this place a chance, do so. Keep meaning to try dinner, but haven’t read anything about it. Keep up the great work!Pros + Food, bakery on-site, rotating menuCons – crowded at times
