Where is the Best Fireside Dining in Portland, Oregon?
My husband and I prefer this location. We normally eat at the bar. The dinning area is for older people. We ate there as a family but our parents thought it made them felt old. Older people tend to cut in the bar too. Even though they see you waiting for the next available table, they still walk pass you for a table. We liked the previous waitress better. She was there for awhile. She always remembered us and even saved us the best table in the bar. We brought our friends there several times. They loved the food, but felt the atmosphere was too old for them. We feel the same way, but the service is a notch better than the other location.
Another new chef as of June 2008. Prices are inappropriate: $35 for a ribeye steak (that’s ribeye, not filet), $15 for a bowl of fish stew, $20 for risotto with green peas, $14 for a bacon cheeseburger. On the lunch menu, spaghetti with a fresh tomato sauce is $16. Seriously. The food tastes pretty good, but the prices for relatively common dishes have become insulting. The chopped salad for $14 contains one slice of chopped bacon, about two ounces of chicken, and maybe an ounce of ham. It does arrive with two deviled egg halves, however, that are quite tasty.Otherwise, the outdoor garden is more beautiful than ever, and their cocktails are about the same price as you’d expect in any upscale venue. I’ll continue to enjoy drinks in the garden, but will dine elsewhere. Service is generally excellent.Pros + Beautiful setting, good serviceCons – Food is too expensive for the quality
I went to bay 13 with my boyfriend last night – we went a few months ago and weren’t terribly impressed but it’s close by so we figured we’d give it another shot. Last time we we went it felt like the menu didn’t match portland, let alone the pearl, so we were happy to see some sushi and snacks back on the menu. Our service was a little spotty, we waited a while between courses and for some more bread but our waitress was pleasant enough and gave us a great recommendation on wine to go with our sushi – which was definately worth coming back for. All in all I’m glad Bay 13 is in the hood.
