Where is the Best Fireside Dining in Orange County, California?
My Mom, sisters, my daughter and I (7 of us) ate at the Beach House in September 07. The food was fabulous and the waitress was just wonderful. None of us are from the area, we were vacationing and this helped to make our experience wonderful. The view was also gorgeous. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone but it was very noisy so not for kids. The only problem was that we had to wait for a table even though we had reservations. When I made reservations I asked for a window view table. When I got there they said they couldn’t promise that but they did when the reservation was made. We weren’t in a hurry so waited in the lounge for about 15 minutes until a suitable table was available.Pros + Excellent food — Cons – Pier view, not view of the ocean
This was our first time at this restaurant located in Downtown Disney. Since it was at Disney, we had very low expectations. We ordered the duck and fish for dinner. Service was very nice and friendly. The food in general was tasty, warm and prompt. Compared to other restaurant of this scale, it seems overpriced based on the quantity served. I thought that the fish portion was very small for a Patina group restaurant. It is like that Citibank commercial with a large plate with a fluff garnish. My dish was served on a very large square plate with a single long grilled onion on top of the fish and some type of corn ragout. Also, it seems that what I got did not look like the description on the menu. Would we go back? Most likely not unless the give us a free meal. If you like duck and fish, try Sage at Newport.Pros + No line if arrive on early bird hourCons – Large plate small portion
I had dinner at Hush with about 15 friends, for a birthday. My food was okay and a handful of my friends had cold or almost frozen mashed potatoes or poorly cooked meat. Again, I am not sure if it was because there were so many of us. Our server did not seem apologetic or compensating at all. As we proceeded to the dessert menu, we were excited to see the “midnight snack”. There were a few yummy items, and we were thrilled to order 3 and share. To our surprise, it literally was a “midnight snack”. There were pint sized brownies and quarter sized cookies. I guess it was to our advantage so we did not consume too many calories. Everything would have been okay if it was not about $75 – $100, a person. The drinks were very good but very over priced and the bar scene is very snobby for a beach town. I will say that it is decorated very tastefully.
