J. Gilberts is a terrific place for many reasons. Their prices are less than the high end steak houses in Washington and their steaks and other menu choices are simply better than most of the others. One does not pay for a Washington name like The Palm, etc.. which is good but surely not great, and their prices are literally crazy. J. Gilbert’s steaks are out of this world – that simple. Their service is good but not great, however. How someone can say J. Gilberts is ok, average or bad, is beyond me – they must work for the competition!! One would expect to find the quality of J. Gilberts in the heart of downtown – but they are 5 minutes from my McLean, VA home and is a great place, only enhanced by being so close to my house. J. Gilberts is absolutely terrific!! Pros + steaks are unbelievable, desserts yummy, bar very friendly, prices are good for what you get!Cons – service could be more consistent – not bad but could be better

Just returned from a 4-day business trip to the Intercontinental. The hotel is nice and clean, very nicely decorated and my room on the smaller 6-floor side of the building was very large and spacious. The location, across from the Country Club Plaza shopping district, cannot be beat. The staff is also very friendly and courteous. Pool area also looked…

The last 2 years that I have come to Kansas City I look forward to going to Hereford House. I did not go to this exact location but rather the one at 661 N Stoddard Ave, Kansas City, MO. Their steaks were perfectly done and could cut them with a fork. I love the Blue Cheese covered strip. I was not too impressed with any of their side item choices but then again I am also picky about what vegetables I like to eat. The last time I tried the scalloped potatoes and didn’t care for them. One of the best parts is the dessert. They have a white chocolate bread pudding that is to die for. It is not like any other bread pudding that I have seen and if you like white chocolate this is a must! And you can get it en flambe to make it even better.Pros + White Chocolate Bread Pudding!

I love the atmosphere at Lidia’s. The bar and managment staff are very attentive and warm. And if you sit at the bar in the winter, you stay warm because of the huge fireplace there. Delicious breadsticks and cured olives are the “beer nuts” here. I can’t believe someone says teh combination of the lemon chicken and olives and spinach was “dreadful”! That is my VERY favorite dish at Lidia’s! It’s delicious every single time. I also love the manicotti and the soups are always different and interesting. I had one that was pea soup with shrimp – not a combination I’d think of bu it was delightful. In this city known for its beef, you MUST try the bone-in ribeye! It’s easily one of the best steaks in town and it’s huge. This place is not your spaghetti-and-meatballs kind of Italian – the influences are Slavic mixed with Italian. And if you don’t want trains to interrupt your meal, eat somewhere that isn’t located in the historic train yards of KC. Duh. You can’t hear the trains inside. Lid
