Where is the Best Fireside Dining in Indianapolis, Indiana?
The food and drinks were pretty good, I had the mahi-mahi sandwich which was a bit dry,and my date had the New York Strip which I sampled and it was excellent. Hickory smoked and cooked the way he asked for it.I’d stick with the specials (drink-wise) or the seasonal beer. Our service, especially on the deck was very, very slow. We would have stayed outside for an extra cocktail, but we waited nearly 20 minutes for the first drink, and the deck was dead. That’s the only reason I took off a couple stars.A friend of ours used to work there and warned us of the slow service before we went, but we weren’t expecting to be there for as long as we were. I had dinner the other night at Union Jack Pub. I took my mother for her birthday. The place hasn’t changed much in the past decade, and I hoped for a good experience. I ordered a 10″ Four Seasons pizza and my mom got the breaded tenderloin. Her tenderloin was very overcooked and tough, and her fries were soggy and over seasoned. My pizza on the other hand was very good, and we both ended up eating it instead of mom eating her tenderloin. They had a very nice selection of beers, and not just the usual 5 or 6 that most bars have. My pizza had a sweet chunky sauce and plenty of toppings and was topped with fresh basil. Even with both of us eating on it I still took home a few slices for the next day. Definitely the best pizza I have had in a long time. It took a while for our order but the server told us that it would be about 40 minutes on the pizza, so at least we had a heads up.
