In my opinion, La Griglia is one of the best places for a celebration!! Although if you’re not ok with loud restaurants, this is not the place for you. The atmosphere is fun and funky with their wild tile mosaics, bright wall murals and very cool glass light fixtures. You’ll keep getting your bread basket refilled with their awesome pizza bread sticks…they’re so addicting! The service is unpredictable and depends on the crowd. We either have three people attending to us at one time or end up waiting a bit too long for food to be served. We have never been disappointed by the entrees and the dessert cart is very impressive. Also, if ordering coffee, be sure to ask for the biscotti, which is a great way to end a great meal.PS – one of my husband’s favorite dishes is the roasted boar chop and I love the Straw and Hay (Paglia e Fieno). Pros + Pizza bread sticks, atmosphereCons – Loud…but fun!

Recently my spouse and I went to Bistro Vino for our anniversary, we hadn’t been there for quite some time. I am so happy to say that it was as wonderful and romantic as we had remembered. The staff are friendly and attentive and not in your face. It’s nice to go out and not have someone interrupting your conversation every few minutes to ask how things are. It’s also nice to not be rushed through my meal and allowed to have a conversation while I’m eating and not worry about the main course coming before I’ve finished my salad. My partner had ordered the veal chop with crab meat in a champagne sauce and I had the filet au poivre… can you say “melt like butter?” It was absolutely terrific!!! And since it was a special occassion, we split a piece of the pecan pie with Hagen Daaz ice cream ( or should I say, fought for the last piece!) and I have to say it was the best pie if you like to have more nuts than goo, which is right up my alley! I recommend this restaurant any time of th

The service was good and they have a small patio out front that is good for nice days. The menu has a lot of variety for vegetarians and/or health conscious eaters. The guacamole and chips appetizer was a good start. The guacamole was above average, the chips and salsa were fresh too. The rotisserie chicken was fantastic! It came with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The gumbo was very good too if you’re okay with beans. It has a more authentic taste to it so start off with a cup if you’re unsure. I hear most everything on the menu is good and the Sunday brunch is a must have. Definitely plan on coming back.Pros + price, service, food, variety of foods to try, ambience (indoor patio)Cons – none. far, if you don’t live around montrose area.

Been here a few times over the years, finally got around to reviewing it. I keep coming back because the food is consistently good and I love the atmosphere. It is a charming cafe with a lovely patio area, great place for a date or family gatherings. My husband loves it because they have good wines.Speaking (or writing rather) of families, they do have a decent kids menu with approximately 10 food items to choose from.Service is always excellent here, everyone’s friendly and attentive. My only complaint would be parking. The limited parking area they have is strictly for valet. You can park on the street a block away but watch out for the parking signs.Pros + Good food and good wineCons – Parking

I’m sure Vargo’s packed them in during the 70s and 80s, and was THE place to be seen in Houston’s west suburbs. But today, it’s no longer a restaurant. It’s a multi-million dollar real estate play on spacious and beautiful gronds where today they happen to serve a few hundred bucks worth of food each day. * * * * * in 2007, nothing about Vargo’s says “We are striving for excellence here”. The building and furniture are run down, the cutlery comes crusted with the food of diners past, the food and service are adequate (good, even), but the overal experience was average at best in a city that offers so much above-average dining. * * * * * Some day, a new investor will buy Vargo’s and re-instill the excellence necessary to generate the revenue to justify their investment. The it will become the place to go again. That will probably be the next time I go back to Vargo’sPros + Location location locationCons – Rundown building and furniture, value-for-money
