Where is the Best Fireside Dining in Denver, Colorado?

So let me start by saying, we were a group of 5, sitting at a 4 top table. We were cramped and uncomfortable. We were directly under the A/C vent which they finally turned off. The ambiance, given those constraints was absolutely terrible. Our waitress was obnoxious and completely unknowledgable about wine. The only reason this place got the 3 stars that it did, is simply because of the appetizers. We had just about every appetizer on the menu and they were all beyond excellent. I ordered the game plate, which came with Buffalo tenderloin, elk and a pheasant. The Buffalo tenderloin was superb, while the elk was overcooked. I am not a huge pheasant fan (too much work for too little food), but it was cooked perfectly. Another party at the table ordered roasted duck and it was phenomenal. The long and the short of it is…if you are going to charge what they charge, everything: ambiance, food, waitstaff…all should be top notch. I felt as though only one part of this meal was top notch..

Food Snob as a rule will not review a bad restaurant. I’m torn a little on this one. I want to like it, but as the last review so eloquently points out they have a good deal of work to do.The view is wonderful. Very Romantic, my wife was awed for our anniversary. We were greeted with our reservation and on request, were seated at the best window seat looking over the city. The appitizers were nice, but not special enough to warrant the price. The “Twilight Deal” was appealing as my wife likes smaller portions. I, on the other hand was going for the big Prime Rib. Both meals were overcooked just enough to be annoying. Our server, was very attentive and offered to fix them, but we opted to not let our anniversary be scarred and made the best of it. The desert tray was nice, simple and limited. The regular choices. The Chocolate cake was the best. I do hope that not only we diners read these, but that restaurants make regular visits to these sites as well to see how we feel.

I got kind of excited to try this place one night so we stopped in. the cabernet’s they had were way way over priced. The food, quite frankly, for the price, was miserable. I was excited to see that i could order a side of seared tuna with my salad. With a little balsamic vinegarette, that would have been delicious, but alas, they had no balsamic vinegarette (um. what?) and instead of tuna they brought me the salad with two large, uncut and tough steaks of SALMON. seared. what? im not the kind of guy to send things back, but this time, i really should have. i mean, how was i supposed to cut that? also, you shouldn’t sear salmon like that. it makes it even tougher. the raspberry vinegarette they sent me was terrible and sweet. i could hardly touch it.very disapointing. I could have gotten sick. I ordered a salmon steak, which was also very over priced. I think it was 19 or 20. My girlfriend had the filet mingnon, which was around 34. What we got was the same quality, if

We arrived to the 16th St Mall by cab. We we’re staving so Willie G’s looked like an inviting place. The menu was available in the lobby with prices. Once inside we we’re seated at the back of bar area. Probably because of our hiking attire. The service from the staff was excellent and very professional. We did suspect the pricing was just a tad higher than advertised however it was worth a few extra. I had the Almond Trout with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. We had an overall great dining experience. The staff was also very through in giving us directions to the best night spots. We were there on a Wednesday night. Pros + Location in the middle of 16th St Mall area. Cons – Parking didn’t appear to be close but we arrived by cab.

Food was delicious and they always kept the water full which is seems to be rarer and rarer these days even at good restaurants. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about wines and unlike most didn’t sound condescending about it all. Which is always a huge turn off. Just because I have never heard of some grape from Chile that is only grown in two vineyards doesn’t make me an idiot. But I digress… the wine was good but I wish they would have had more moderately priced bottles on the menu. I think they had 5 bottles under $40 but 5 pages of bottles that were over $100. Also the server “recommended” that we order way, way more food than was necessary, and people in America have hard time understanding why they are fat. You can have a half order of a Insalate e Zuppa and a half order of Primi Piatti and that is plenty of food for any rational human being. My biggest complaint though and it may be a little thing to some but this really bothers me. The pasta I ordered was supposed to h
