Where is the Best Fireside Dining in Atlanta, Georgia?
The hubs made a surprise reservation at Two Urban Licks for Valentine’s Day, since he heard some good things about it. We were early for our reservation so we waited at the bar and had a couple of cocktails. I had the Purple Rain specialty drink, rum and simple syrup infused with lemon thyme and lavender. It was very smooth so I had a second. His traditional martini was well executed. Everything was starting out well. When we were seated, it started to go downhill a bit. We were seated at a tiny table with a large fire extinguisher butted right against the table. However, all the two-seater tables are tiny but the extinguisher feature was rather annoying. It was also extremely noisy, crowded, my eyes started to sting a bit from the poor ventilation system. For appetizers we ordered tuna tartare and a barely cooked, thin sliced beef called carpacio. Both were delicious although a miniscule portion size. The tuna was fresh and had a nice light sesame and citrus taste and the beef had
A group of us visited Food Studio on a recent Saturday night. We started our evening at the bar but the bar staff seemed a bit over whelmed where we had difficulty getting service. The wine selection at the bar was decent with a number of selections at different price points. We were surprised to see Food Studio was offering a fixed course special that evening offering three courses for $25. This ended up being a tremendous deal. The quality of the food was excellent and the portions seem to be “normal” in size. This was a very pleasant surprise considering some of the lackluster meals we have of late during the Atlanta restaurant week at similar establishments. Give some kudos to Food Studio here.I had a hanger steak appetizer and Monk fish entree that were both very good. Dessert was so-so (fig pastry) but the table though the apple turnover was good. Our server was friendly but had a few challenges. Hopefully this isn’t the norm for such an establishment. The s
My husband and I enjoyed our meal overall. His duck was a little on the greasy side. Our first time eating escargot was a great experience. The space was a little tight and we were seated by the kitchen area, which was a little noisy. Atmosphere also had a pretty good wine selection.Pros + EscargotCons – Seating
Park Tavern has come a long way in the 10 years it’s been in Atlanta. I started hanging out there when I was living in VaHi and always could count on great beer and fabulous people watching. I’ve seen amazing concerts there over the years, been to weddings that rivaled anything at a luxury hotel and have been pleased to see the quality of food & general atmoshphere grow along with my personal tastes. The entire restaurant is so pretty now– they’ve redone the bathrooms in marble, the firelpaces are warm and cozy, I love the stone and wood beam feel. The landscaping is really nice and I hear they’ve done a lot of “green” things like putting in a cistern and solar panels. The SUSHI is HANDS DOWN- the BEST in the city. The sushi chef took the time to explain to me all about the fish— which is flown in daily from Honolulu– pretty darn fresh! Surprising to find such amazing sushi in a non-Japanese restaurant. In fact, Park Tavern does a great job breaking the mold on all “types” of genre
This one is off the road a little, but better than most Cracker Barrels. The service is always fair to excellent. The food is always great. You seem to always have to wait no matter what time of day. I see folks who come from surround counties, so it must be worth the trip for them.Pros + excellent service, great food, shop while you waitCons – Can be hard to get to, not enough parking, always a wait
