We booked at the Intercontinental after having already paid for four nights at the Grand Hyatt across the street. We moved because of the Grand Hyatt’s horrible smokey smelling rooms. I found this hotel through Trip Advisor.Retrospectively, it was an inspired decision. For those who don’t know Atlanta, the Buckhead area where the hotel is located is 10 minutes away by taxi from downtown or by the Metropolitan rail authority. The hotel is neat with the reception staff being very polite and helpful. The room itself was decent sized with good mattresses and airconditioning/microwave/coffeemaker/fridge/iron and stand for pressing clothes.The room was meat. The toilet was of adequate size and neat though it looked well worn.The TV had about 40 channels. There is an icevending machine/softdrink machine next to my room which was useful.There is a swimming pool which looked adequate and clean though I did not use it.Breakfast is included and is served from from 7 – 10 am. It is all continental and pre-prepared- strictly utilitarian and served in polystyreene plates with plastic utensils – so if you are like me and hate these – then don’t look forward to breakfast!
