Where is the Best Family-Friendly Dining in St. Louis, Missouri?
I can’t see brining up the local police as a reason to avoid a restaurant… In fact, the local police directed me to Fortel’s tonight and then, on second thought, joined me.Very good pizza. Thin, St. Louis style crust with a tangy sauce and real cheese. Hot peppers and cheese on the table. Free refills. (Large cheese and two drinks: $17.00.)O.K. family atmosphere: there are lots of video games for kids, televisions everywhere, beer for the adults, crayons and placemat games for kids. Two suggestions:1) Instead of showing sports on all of the television screens, why not dedicate a few of them to some family entertainment? silent movies (my choice); old cartoons; little Einsteins. It would offer a bit more for the kids and give the place even more of a family atmosphere.2) The game-room could use some updating and some more family-friendly games. War and commercialism seem to be the dominant themes here: dismember terrorists or buy a chance at a new watch. Maybe that’s just wha
I live in the neighborhood and have yet to find any place in the St. Louis area with more consistent service. Even on busy days they get you in fast and get your food out quickly and hot. They even have a great complimentary coffee station for anyone in the waiting area. This works great for those of us who can handle waiting for food but not for our morning jolt!I would recommend Chris’ to anyone of any age group. Truly a fine South City establishment.Pros + Free coffee for people waiting, great serviceCons – Parking is somewhat limited when really busy
I ate at Dr. Jazz Soda Fountain & Grille for the first time this week. I have never been to the St. Louis area but when I heard about the Chicago style food, I decided I had to stop in. The atmosphere is amazing. There is an old restored Coke soda fountain which they use to serve ice cream. The food was great. My kids had a great time and the ice cream was the best I have ever had. I was able to try the various ice cream flavors they had but my favorite was the Coconut Joy. My wife tried a George Bailey which had the same ice cream in it and the portions are HUGE! Overall, I have to give the restaurant a 10 out of 10. You will never find a dining experience like at Dr. Jazz.Pros + Amazing ice cream, Great food, Fun for kidsCons – 30 min from St. Louis, Not open Mondays
It was 1962 at the age of one when we moved two blocks from this restaurant. My family moved from the city to the suburbs because of visiting the (Ponticello’s) new location, (as the family stories were told to me.) I never worked thier but many of my friends have, growing up.I recomend all, but my favorite that I travel 30 miles for is the Roquefort Dressing. It is like no other, “believe me.” It’s not for sale “cause I asked.” What is a 42 year old man to do but travel 30 miles. When in town, visit. I has a history that has not changed in 0ver 42 years. Pros + Food, serviceCons – , atmosphere
