Portland’s is an all-around great dining experience. The dining room is small enough that you receive great personal attention from your server. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and the extensive wine list. Our wine selection couldn’t have been better paired with our meals, and the prices were in line with the quality, unlike some places that like to inflate prices. This is a great place for a date – either in jeans or dressed up. The bar was rocking the night we were there, but the restaurant proved to be quiet enough for conversation. All around a terrific experience. My only complaint is that the fish I ordered was overcooked. Perhaps that’s my own fault for ordering fish in the desert …?

My Mother’s is an experience. Go in thinking that you are having Sunday dinner at Mom’s and you won’t be disappointed. That is, after all, what this place is all about.Meatloaf, chicken fried steak, pot roast, pizza. It is all here. Everything is very good and the turnaround is great because of the enormous clientel base this hole-in-the-wall has. You will also notice that there is always a couple of Phoenix cops eating their lunch or dinner at My Mother’s.Simple, good, hearty food. A nice bit of Americana.Pros + Excellent Food, Wide selection, Security

We love Famous Dave’s! It’s the best BBQ restaurant in Phoenix and we have tried them all. The St Louis style ribs are tasty beyond compare and the corn muffins are to die for. The chopped pork, and brisket are juicy, tender, and tasty. We always order a feast so that we can enjoy the ribs, chopped pork and brisket. We like all the different BBQ sauce choices too. We enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant and the managers and employees go the extra mile to make sure the food is perfect and the service is FAMOUS. I like Famous Dave’s because it’s real good BBQ smoked in the restaurant and you get a lot of food for the money and my wife likes Famous Dave’s because of the good food and casual atmosphere. We also like it because it’s a family restaurant like a backyard BBQ and our kids fit right in. If you have never been to Famous Dave’s check it out. You won’t be dissapointed.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Phoenix! I drive down from Sedona at least once a week to eat at MacAlpine?s. It is a great place to eat before the ball games downtown. The black bean burger is delicious. It is homemade and you sure can tell. MacAlpine’s potato salad is the best I?ve ever had. The chocolate cake is to die for. I love it served with the mint chocolate chip ice cream. The waitresses are fantastic. You can tell they love there job! There are so many things that make this restaurant exceptional: the food, the service but most of all would be the atmosphere. It is like you stepped out of a time machine into 1928. MacAlpine?s was a Rexall pharmacy until fairly recently and has been there for almost 80 years. I keep on telling the owners that some famous Hollywood producer is going to walk in someday and use the place for a movie or sitcom. It is that special!Next door there is an antique and retro store. I have found some really cool furniture and great gifts fo

Great NY style thin crust pizza. Sicilian style is very good too… and worth the wait. Fresh toppings – just the right amount – never overdone – so you can still taste the cheese & sauce. Try the garlic cheese knots while you wait. Add the cookies & cream (‘pazookie’) for dessert. Excellent all the way around. Friendly crew and nice atmosphere. Bar area is small, but cozy should you get a seat in the busy times… complete with 2 TV’s reserved mostly for sports.Pros + Thin Crust NY Pizza, Garlic Cheese Knots, Cookies & Cream DesseCons – None
