Where is the Best Family-Friendly Dining in New Orleans, Louisiana?
Taqueria Corona served up the best Mexican food I had ever eaten, in any city. I’ve never been to Mexico, but that’s still saying something. Everything was perfectly seasoned, with minimal grease and ideal texture. Vegetables were fresh, cheese was of high quality, beans were cooked to perfection, meat was well-marinaded, and no one spice, such as cumin or chile, overpowered as sometimes tends to happen. The chorizo was the most balanced and best textured I have ever had, in fact, that taco was the best to have ever passed my lips; it’s a must-try. Service, however, was inattentive (at least as compared to what I’m used to in New Orleans), and this was at a time when the restaurant was not busy. Combined with the presence of a loud and obnoxious party of college students two tables over, it detracted from what would have been a great experience. Perhaps things are better closer to peak hour.
We went to Deanies twice during this trip to New Orleans. The BBQ shrimp was out of this world!!! Could have eaten it every day!! I will be finding that recipe!!! They serve you with spicy new potatoes rather than the traditional rolls before your meal. They were delicious and quite a nice change of pace. The second day we had the shrimp po-boy which also was quite delicious.I highly recommend trying this spot. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is great for families or couples.
My review is pretty similar to the others here: Horrible service!I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. Bad idea. The hostess was rude from the minute we walked in the door. We were seated at one of the tiny tables. This would have been okay if we were not neglected. After I flagged down a waiter, we got an appetizer order in. 20 minutes later they brought us the wrong appetizer! We finally got the crab cakes, which were really pretty good.Had our food been brought out with in a reasonable time following our appetizer, I probably would not be on City Search writing this negative review. However, after waiting over an hour, we were pretty frustrated. I was sitting pretty close to the kitchen and could see at least 10-15 ready meals just sitting at the counter. Was one of them ours? I asked and was told by the informative waiter that they were real busy tonight and our food would be out in a minute. Really? How come the tables on either side of us were empty?! Af
It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving or Christmas in our family without Rocky’s Baked Macaroni. We don’t cook it anymore , we order it for the holidays. Our family wouldn’t eat , if we cooked it. I have been going to Rocky & Carlo’s since I was a small child. We LOVE the veal, brucciloni, italian salad, baked mac and of course the roast beef po boy. Mr. Rocky will even throw a BIG JUICY T-BONE in the broiler if you ask nicely. Rockys is our place to go after graduations, for birthday parties, baby showers, etc. Now my granddaughter loves it and knows Beau (the bartender) and Lil’ Rocky and yells their name as soon as we get in the door. She just had her 2 y.o. birthday party at my house in Slidell and guess what we had ? 1 GIANT pan of BAKED MACARONI and 2 pans of VEAL PARMESIAN….The people slurped it down……We now live in Slidell and if I go to Chalmette, I better bring a veal cutlet plate back to my 85 y.o. dad or he will get very upset.
