Where is the Best Family-Friendly Dining in New Orleans, Louisiana?
My first trip to Slice–Ordered a pizza over the phone, they said it would take 15 minutes. After waiting 15 minutes, I drove over. I went in to pay and noticed that they had a “slice specialty pizza” some sort of potato, sausage with an avocado aoli. My original order wasn’t ready yet, so I ordered one single slice of the slice of the day … Well, to my surprise it took 30 minutes for them to cook one slice of pizza. I am not exaggerating, 30 minutes. After 15 minutes, I asked the counter girl and she said, “well. you changed your order so it is going to take longer” In my defense, I didn’t change my order, I added to my order. If a whole pizza takes 15 minutes, why in the world would one slice take a half an hour?? I paid and tipped and took my pizza home . I opened my pizza and to my disappointment it wasn’t really that good. It tasted flat, not that it was bad just not really good.. Took a couple of clients to lunch here, fortunately it was their suggestion, what a mistake. I don’t know how this place survives on St. Charles St. The appetizer came out with the main course, coconut shrimp that were still cold and raw in the middle, obviously frozen prior to frying. Slow staff. Will never go back.

Nothing brings back those days like the rich scent of their roast-beef poboys, which makes my mouth water in salty anticipation.Those days when we would enjoy a piping-hot roast-beef poboy, whose dense, tender meat was brushed with a fine medley of Cajun spices, harkening our rich local heritage. Smothered in the most succulent gravy, it lay nestled in bread so soft, I thought it the stuff of clouds and dreams.Alas, those days of yesteryear have receded into oblivion, but R&O’S stands proud: a Bucktown monument standing the test of time. The hotel is a pleasant surprise. Clean, well maintained with large, comfortable, attractive rooms and a nice view. You don’t feel as though you are at an airport. There is a nice pool and exercise area with dressing rooms. There is also a pub and a large area for lounging in the foyer. The restaurant is nice but a bit too exposed and the food is nothing to get excited about. Shuttle service is available to and from the airport and the train.
