Where is the Best Family-Friendly Dining in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
It’s been over a decade since I’ve been to Pepito’s, so I was worried about some of the reviews I read here. We decided to give it a try and were glad we did! We weren’t on a budget, but there was a good choice of prices on the menu. The two tacos could feed a small family for $7.50. The enchilada was so stuffed with chicken it was a meal in itself, but I had to also finish the relleno as it was EXCELLENT! My vegetarian daughter loved her choices. The margaritas were marvelously mediocre and WAY overpriced. We could have been more frugal with our menu choices and drinks but it was still only $23.00/plate with generous tip for server ( great service at 9pm sat.) and valet.( definite bonus on a sub-zero night!)Pros + good choice of dishes/pricesCons – Expensive margaritas
My boyfriend and I dined here for the first time over the weekend. I definitely give this restaurant a 9 for its theme. The effects were great and it really felt like we were in the middle of the rainforest, but the service was quite slow. I used to be a waitress so I know that you are supposed to greet customers within 30 seconds…it was more like 5 minutes the night we went. Granted it was busy but that is no excuse to not acknowledge a paying customer. The waitress was also slow to refill our beverages. Our glasses sat empty for quite awhile before they were refilled. As for the atmosphere, it is definitely more of a place for groups. There were at least 5 birthdays throughout the duration of our dining, which got kind of annoying. This is definitely not a place to go for a first date. I was satisfied with my food, although a little over-priced for what we got. Overall, it wasn’t too bad, but not my favorite.Pros + Theme, groups, foodCons – Busy, loud, service
Yes: It’s hyped. Yes, there’s a lot of richie Edina teenage girls. Yes, this is a busy chain experience. Yes, it is always crowded. Yet I’m glad the TC has a Cheesecake Factory here now (did they have to put it in a mall though?). This place has a menu like a phone book, each page has about 4 or 5 items that you’d like to try. I’ve eaten at several different locations and I notice that while the menu is pretty consistent, they seem to incorporate some of the local flavors into their dishes. But it’s hitormiss – even on the same items. On the same day, my friend and I both ordered chicken with lemon butter sauce and mashed potatoes. Her chicken just seemed like flat, soggy chicken patties whereas mine was crispy and more… “real.” Most of the time it’s been reasonably good – I give the food a solid 8. The portions are gigantic, expect to eat half if you are entertaining the idea of dessert. The servers are pretty good, always willing to make substitutions so that’s a plus if you are a
I went there for drinks and although the bar was busy, the bartender took time to make something special. I am not a big drinker so he asked me what flavors liked, how strong I would like the drink to be, and he came up with a great custom drink! What ever he made, I love it and have gone back a few times with friends to enjoy them. Great service, ask for Ben.Pros + serviceCons – none
