Where is the Best Family-Friendly Dining in Kansas City, Missouri?
We were referred to Princess Garden by friends from St. Louis who eat there every time they are in KC. They have amazing food! You get large portions and this is not the kind of Chinese place where everything tastes the same. You can tell they use quality ingredients in everything. While we were there, there were several birthday parties, so they are great with groups. It is a beautiful restaurant inside, but it’s hard to consider romantic when random groups keep bursting into song and people don’t control their children. THE Best pan fried chicken around. Come hungry and don’t be in a hurry. Everything is served home style( you order mashed potatoes they bring enought for a family) and everything I do mean everything is fabulous!. Green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy if you like, gizzards and gravy if you like, HUGE shrimp, steak, pork chops to die for, you get 2 and you can have each one prepared differently if you like, and they have got to be 1 1/2 inches thick if not more. I haven’t been a few years because I have moved south but I started going in 1983 and go every chance I get to town. Take the family and enjoy a nice evening on the grounds while you wait for you take.
If you have enough people (I’d suggest at least 4), you HAVE to go here if you’re visiting the city. The food is incredible and the portions are HUGE, but you order a few for the whole table and share them. Atmosphere is incredible and very fun. Conveniently located right on the Plaza, so you can enjoy the area and walk right in. They take reservations, but I’ve never had to wait long for a table. For larger parties (6+), I’d recommend it.
The food at the rainforest cafe will blow you away, it’s pricy but for the type of restaurant it is and the amount being served it is expected. The atmosphere is off the charts, with evrything from monkeys hanging to elephants hanging out in the forest. In the Rainforest is always rains, they keep it going for the kids all the realistic sounds are the best part. Stop at the gift shop on your way out, reasonable prices and tons of cool stuff.
