Where is the Best Family-Friendly Dining in Charlotte, North Carolina?
I went on Wed. 10/08/08 and got to see their brand new menu which is not yet posted online. Changes: 1. Veggie cheese is now Vegan Gourmet brand cheese 2. Now offer whole wheat pizza crust 3. No longer carry broccoli so the veggie pizza is now a California veggie pizza complete with avacado and tomatoes and roasted garlic! It was very good! 4. Added a veg. pasta dish 5. Added Mediterranian salad feat. bananas(?!) We ate at the bar and the bartender was very nice and went back to look at the new cheese to tell us the brand name. We were a little nervous about trying the new pizza but it ended up being really tasty. It’s much more filling than the old one.
I had forgotten about the good old days until I drove up to Zack’s Hamburgers. It all came back once I hit the door and stepped inside. I sat down in front of a real hamburger and drifted back to those good ole days. I listened to George talk to each customer like he knew them well and he would see them tommorrow. When I finished my Zack’s Special I learned that George did know all those people well and the only thing he was puttin in the food was years of experience makin a great burger. Zacks makes a great burger and when you add the personality and fun the place has I can see why the folks keep comin back for the Zack Attack. After traveling around Charlotte a good 2 – 3 hours we found Ciro’s by mistake when we had decided to go back to the hotel were the convention was being held. Upon entry the place was packed and I thought that we would be there for at least an hour before being seated. To our surprise the Owner (originally from Italy) came over and introduced himself and ask if we had been waiting long (This was after about 5 minutes). During our chat, the attendant called our name and seated us (approx. 10 minutes). The atmosphere was excellent, the owner even played several Italian selections on his accordion. Very romantic. My wife and I had an excellent dinner and the service was great. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any visitor at University Place in Charlotte. And for any racing fan there is a unique story between the owner and famed racing personality/former driver Benny Parsons. So drop by and read the article on the right hand wall as soon as you enter.
