Where is the Best Family-Friendly Dining in Charlotte, North Carolina?
I have been to this place more times than I care to admit simply because it’s so convenient. Located in the Park Road Shopping area (the new one with Jason’s Deli), it offers a good alternative when you have a group of people who cannot decide on where to go. The drinks here are by far the best thing this place has going for it. Thursday evenings the drink specials are 2nd to none at 1/2 off all liquor drinks. They also have 50cent wings on Thursday if you are hungry. On Saturdays they have $10 buckets and inexpensive draft drinks. Now for the food. I cannot say that I am blown away by it, but its good. All of the food seems fairly fresh and I personally have not had a meal that I did not like. I have been out with friends before and they have been let down by both the quality and quantity of the food given. Once with the shrimp and grits and the other with one of the chicken sandwiches. If you want hot dogs with various toppings this is the place. Although it wasn’t as good as everyone said it was. The hot dogs were smaller than the bun. The toppings looked fresh, but lack of taste and zing. When I ordered the Bread Bowl to-go they didn’t even give me the bread bowl. I specifically asked the server, If I didn’t order the Bread Bowl for dine-in..do I still get the bread for take-out, she said yes, but when I got home, NOTHING’S THERE! So I just had regular chilli with no bread bowl. Though I was cheated a little there. 1 small dog, 1 drink, 1 so called bread bowl, set me back $8.50, not filling enough for that amount of money. This restaurant is one of those neighborhood hang outs where you can get anything from liver mush to a bowl of she-crab soup. Eddie’s Place and Danny’s Too can offer it’s customer quite a selection of tastes. They usually have specials that are unique in their own way, one of them being my favorite, an omlette with blackened shrimp, feta cheese and spinach. Sounds interesting I am sure, but it was excellent. Thier bruches are to die for, plenty of food for a great price, but you have to get there early in order to get a table. In addition to their brunches, they have excellent overstuffed sandwiches and an interesting selection of micro-brews and spirits. The staff is very friendly, but at times a little slow, but that is part of the charm in this very laid back establishment. On the weekends, they have music and get a crowd going. One thing you must try if you go is a cup of the she-crab soup. It is out of this world. Oh yeah, grab a tootsie roll on the way out.
