This has to be one of the best facials I’ve ever gotten. Lacey was very informative and offered great tips on taking care of my skin. She didn’t push any products on me and seemed very genuine in her advice as to how I could best maintain my skin between appointments. I booked another appointment right then and there! I loved my skin post facial and unlike some facials I’ve gotten in the past, my skin looked and felt amazing. Oh and the warm booties…AMAZING!My only suggestion would be that mirrors be installed in the treatment rooms for those that receive facials and don’t get directed to the restroom after their treatment. After my facial was completed, I was left to get dressed and try and make myself look presentable enough to walk out into the lobby to pay and walk onto NW 23rd unaware of what I looked like. I felt a little self conscious already with bare face, but to not know if I had red blotchy skin and hair faux pas was a little frustrating and sort of sent me out

This past Autumn, many of Portland’s Yuko clients were frantic to learn that Ziva’s very own Kristoffer, super best Yuko dude in Portland, was departing Ziva for the East coast. Over the past 2 months, as I kept staring at my 4 inches of emerging silver frizz, I wrung my hands, read tons of on-line reviews about other Yuko trained stylists in Portland but remained paralized by intertia and fear of a ‘blind date’ with an unknown, chemical welding stylist. My fear of the unknown included the new Yuko stylist at Ziva as well. But, at least I knew that she had enjoyed the opportunity of working with Kristoffer prior to his departure. So, I called Joe Snell, owner and manager, and explained my fears;…broken hair, burned head and escalated cost due to less experienced technician working slower (Kris was VERY quick and productive). He was terrific. Invited me in to visit with Devon so that I would be familiar wih her prior to making a commitment and assured me my cost would remian th

Tesla Rocks! and not in a bad 80s hair band kind of way…I read all about Vanity Junkie on Citysearch (along with many other salons) and decided to give it a try. I typically go to local schools (Aveda and Paul Mitchell) for services as I don’t get to riled up about salons in general. I wanted a new look and wasn’t sure what it was exactly, just something different than I usually have. I walked into VJ was welcomed and waited for my appt on a comfy couch. Tesla greeted me and took time to discuss what we should do to change my look, she had a lot of good ideas. Her skills and personality made the appt fun and time flew. Now I have a great style that works for when I let my unruly wavy hair do its thing and can be sleekly styled with a flat iron. I will be back to see them! You should go too for a welcoming and fun salon experience without all the “we’re too hip and cool for you” attitude of salons in the Pearl or downtown…Next time I am asking about the Bar mentioned in other revi

I had been looking for someone to trust with my hair and i read so many good reviews on Jena I decided to giver her a try. It was very convenient since she starts at 6am so I can get my hair done before I need to go into work. I went in the first time not knowing what I wanted and some how it turned out better than what I could have dreamed of. I recently went back to get highlights in to give my hair texture for an up-do for a wedding I was in, She listened to what I needed I gave me highlights that look natural, hide when I have my hair down, and makes my hair look amazing when its up. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I have never done anything dramatic to my hair but in her hands I feel like anything she does will make me look amazing in the end. My next appointment is for a Keratin treatment to straighten out my frizzy hair. She gave me a lot of information on it, and gave me good advice whether I should do it or not because of my hair type. She knows her stuff! I wouldn’t place

I’ve had my hair cut at salons before but they always asked what I wanted done, I always said to just do it the way it is but shorter. This time I decided I would ask for recommendations. I did my due diligence and decided to go to Defining Image. I asked Ellery what he thought and he gave me his recommendations as far as the cut. I then asked him about coloring the grey. I’ve never done this before and was hesitant. He put me at ease.Watching Ellery cut my hair, I could tell immediately I was in the hands of a master. Not just the wham bam kind of cuts I usually get. He’s also a woodworking (as am I) and I suspect that accounts for his meticulous nature. The haircut is the best I’ve ever gotten! Why didn’t I know about this when I was younger and had all my hair? Then it came time for the color. His apprentice (I can’t remember his name – sorry!) did the coloring. I was nervous but just went with it, telling myself “it’s only hair.” When we were done and it really didn’t take very
