Where is the Best Egg Roll in Austin, Texas?
People seem to get disappointed by this place because they hear great reviews, go there, and then order dumplings or some such dish. Well, that’s just simply not the way to do it.I count Snow Pea as one of my favorite restaurants because it has the best sushi I’ve ever had. If you’re not a sushi eater, there’s really no point in going because the food itself is pretty mediocre (although I am a fan of their sesame chicken).It’s not just the sushi for me though. I’ve found that when I’ve been there (quite frequently, with my family) the service has been excellent. The food comes out fast, the sushi is always beautifully presented, and the staff is friendly and adorable. I’m also a fan of their décor. I like that it’s mostly asian themed but with a few cherub statues hanging around here and there. It doesn’t make any sense, but it’s cute.Finally it’s all at a good price. My wife & I went to Sunflower last night b/c we’d heard it was a great place for Vietnamese food. That recommendation was spot on! The food was very good. The restaurant was pretty crowded, but we got a table quickly. There isn’t a place to wait for a table other than standing outside on the sidewalk….which is no fun in the summer heat. The interior of the restaurant is pretty sad. Mirrors were smeared and furnishings were well past their prime. But, the food is so good, you don’t even pay attention to the interior. Service is pretty lack luster as well, as the restaurant was severely short-staffed. There were only two waitresses for about 60-70 seats. Those same waitresses had to cover the register as well. The staff was friendly, but obviously too busy to be personable. If not for the lack of appropriate staffing, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is near my workplace so I eat there a few times a month. They have very good wonton soup with real broth. Their drinks are very tasty. This is not a dress up kind of place. The staff…well…sometimes I think maybe their rudeness is because maybe they are not getting paid. They are from another country and often seem like they just arrived from Vietnam. I do not know this for a fact but maybe they have had bad lives with no way out for a better life. Once I picked up a carryout and did not tip the cashier….boy did she let me know she was MAD!!! I did not see anyone else waiting for a carryout. Now I know why I rarely see people waiting for a carryout. After going to my car to get some cash, I returned to give her $3 cash but she was nowhere to be found. I gave the tip to another waiter who had reluctantly walked to the cash register. I don’t know if he gave her the money. I am glad to see here that other writers experienced bad service. Remember this was
