I have been a customer for over a year and everything was okay. Last week when I picked up my cleaning I realized that I was missing a pair of slacks. I returned to Alpians , we checked the ticket there was no pants on it. The owner did not argue and said he would check. To my surprise I received a phone call the next night from the owner that they located the pants. I had dropped it on the street(because I did Not use my pick-up bag) and they had gone around the street asking the merchants if anybody had found a pair of slacks on their own. (although they were not legally responsible)Unlike my old cleaners they did not say-not my problem and saved the day for me-But now they have a customer for a life-time. We tried this place in lieu of our normal cleaners because we needed a bunch of cleaning done, and they happened to take credit cards on a day when we had no cash on us. Big mistake. What would have been $60 at our normal cleaners was $140 at Chris French. Had they taken care of our clothes in an exceptional way, this ridiculous price would have been forgiven. However, it was by far the worst cleaning I have gotten since moving to the East Village last April. My wool pants were returned with as much fuzz as when they were dropped off, in addition to a new stain. Our sweaters contained tiny bits of some type of paper that is very difficult to remove. One of my sweaters, a 95% wool/5% cashmere, was charged as being treated for cashmere even when I instructed to treat it as wool for the lower price. My dress shirts were all flimsily placed on the hangers, so they now have creases in various places, and my silk halter dress was carelessly tied to a hanger with no cardboard inside,
My close friend had our ties made for a wedding here a few months back. I did my part for the environment and used organic cleaners.. Unfortunately I felt things were left spotty and overlooked. The clothes did smell good but I swear there were a few that they forgot to clean and just folded back into the pile. The sevice was prompt and friendly.
