Where is the Best Dive Bar in Dallas, Texas?
Ships Lounge is my favorite bar. The coldest beer in town affordable too. The best jukebox ever. The owner {for 29 years} is the friendliest guy – he treats all the customers nice.. He is a very respectable man. Ships is in a class of its own, it makes me feel happy when I go here, it takes me back in time.
The Loon is a fantastic bar that can be just about whatever you want it to be.Need dinner at 7pm on sunday? They got it.Looking for a hook up at midnight on Saturday? Check. In town on business on a Monday and you need a place to have a few drinks and work on that proposal due in the morning? No prob. The reason for its versatility is four-fold. 1. Great staff. These folks don’t mess about while on duty. Even if you are the only guy in the bar…they won’t be chatting with each other and ignoring you. Whoever trained them did a very good job. 2. Stiff drinks. Hell…stiff drinks are useful just about 24 hours a day. If I want a drink at midnight or noon…I want it to be a stiff one. 3. Good food. Food here is restaurant quality +…not crappy greasy bar food like some Bars and Grills in Uptown. 4. Last and perhaps most importantly….the crowd changes in both numbers and attitude right when you want it too. Like clockwork…this place has just the right crowd at
I got invited to Winedale Tavern last weekend with a few friends, I was a little skeptical at first because I had heard how small it was, however I had heard it was a great crowd and good music. I do LOVE Dive Bars and Dallas doesn’t have very many good Dive’s left. If you don’t mind a crowded place then I would say check it out anytime. While I was there I ran into some people starting a website they called DallasDiveBars.I guess it’s their plan to revitalize the dive bar scene here in Dallas. I can’t freaking wait to see what they have to offer, some of the things they said they had planned sound awesome – just what Dallas needs! Check out their site www.DallasDiveBarscom
