Where is the Best Dive Bar in Austin, Texas?

So this place is funny. It’s kind of a dive, but is surprisingly entertaining. There is free pool on Sun, Mon, & Tues. There’s a jukebox, ping pong, trivia games, and also karaoke on Thursdays (kinda lame). One night we came in and there was a reggae band! haha. Seemed a little out of place, but the band was good! It’s also funny cuz the customers are so different! Any age from young to really old…bikers to giggly college girls. Pros + Ping Pong, Free pool, Music, dance floor.Cons – Dirty, Old

Yes, you’re right, it might be a bad idea to play some Snoop Dog when you’re in a room full of hicks listening to country music all night. Just like it might be a bad idea to play some Waylon Jennings on the juke box in a club full of black people who have been listening to rap for the evening. Be aware of your surroundings…. It’s really that simple. The place is a solid DIVE bar, great for people watching, shuffle board, pool, or a conversation. The patrons are rough looking, the atmosphere is circa 1983, and most people are genuinely nice.Pros + cheap beer, wood paneling, free shuffle boardCons – setups, cash only, no booths

Good place to eat and use the internet during the day. Pool is great and the kareoke is fun. Avoid the regulars – rather skanky. Pros + Down home ambiance.Cons – Low life’s it attracts.

This bar is awesome! From the people that brought you Barfly’s (5420 Airport Blvd.), The Hideout Pub (12164 North MOPAC), and Bender Bar and Grill (Suite 300 @ 321 West Ben White Blvd.). MUGSHOTS IS NOT A COLLEGE BAR! There might be some people there that are that age, but this is a bar where you can get away from the 6th street rigamaroll and the frat losers and can actually have a good time! The juke box is 0% hip hop! You will like this juke box: everything from Foo Fighters, The Stones, ACDC, The Who, Ween, The Cult, Nine Inch Nails, Duran Duran, System of a Down, Smashing Pumpkins, Slayer, ZZ Top, and more newer alternative music that has no hip hop! Tons of domestic, LOCAL and imported beer in the cooler to choose from. Outdoor smoking patio with speakers from the jukebox. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating. One pool table. Cozy atmosphere. MONDAY NIGHT (8 to close) is OPEN MIC NIGHT, hosted by Acoustic Odyssey (12 string guitarist Chuck Miller and the Kickass J Shepard on six st
