Where is the Best Dessert in Cleveland, Ohio?
It’s a few months later than the review date shows, but I couldn’t figure out how to add to my brief April review and revise the date. I still like the food there, but I recently had unusually bad service, at least for that place. I think the young woman was new, as I don’t remember seeing her there before. First, I’ve never had someone not understand my order so badly in that place before. Actually, their salespeople are usually quite accurate and efficient, but this one has a lot to learn. I had to keep repeating myself, and she kept getting it wrong to the end. I can look past mistakes (we all make them), but what made it worse was her robotic, unapologetic demeanor. She corrected the mistakes, but she could have been nicer about it. So you don’t think I caused her attitude, I tried to be nice to her about it (a good salesperson should be able to squeeze a better attitude out for even a difficult customer). The restaurant policy is no reservations. We waited over TWO HOURS to be seated. There was no where to sit while waiting. Most of us stood the entire time. Simply ridiculous.We finally got to our table, and the waitress was wonderful. She took our orders promptly and helped make suggestions for the undecided. I was particularly suprised to find diet food on the menu. I had the grilled mahi-mahi, rice and broccoli. One of the members of our party complained that the food wasn’t hot, and they made her an entirely new plate of food. I was impressed.Then it was check time. My check was somewhat reasonable compared to the others. My one alcoholic beverage and my entree came to $35. Most of the others had 1-2 alcoholic drinks, entree and a piece of cheesecake and spent close to $60-$70. That was too much for one person.Pros + Good Parking, Legacy VillageCons – , Expensive
My husband and I have introduced a number of friends to Max’s. It’s now the #1 lunch favorite of the gang. We drive An hour + to enjoy our favorite(s). A couple of them like – and swear by – the reuben. When the herbed- battered onion rings are properly cooked, they’re phenom! The rare roast beef sandwich on rye is to-die-for. Watch the sugar cookies, ’cause a cookie afficionado in our group will attest they are tasteless. The soups have always been tasty. To top the meal, there’s nothing like the Chocolate Macademia Nut Pie, but don’t bother with the cakes. Don’t go here for service or ambiance, but do try the many food options; the menu is huge.
