Where is the Best Dessert in Charlotte, North Carolina?
In my opinion, Firebirds has the best burger in Charlotte. Maybe anywhere. But the key phrase is “in my opinion”. It also makes a difference whether cost is an issue or not. I’ve read reviews that claim Hardees or Backyard Burgers is the best. Well, for the price, yes they beat something like Wendys or McDonalds, but that’s a whole different category. (In which case Five Guys takes that prize!). But without considering cost, I have to say that the cheeseburgers I’ve had at Firebirds are second to none. I can’t make one as good on MY OWN grill. For a start, because they grind their own beef, they don’t have to conform to those stupid NC regulations that prohibit you having your burger cooked medium rare. But for whatever reason, the end result is superb, and worth the $8.95 . One negative though…their fries, in my opinion are perhaps the WORST I’ve had…they’re those horrible clunky steak-fries. (I almost feel like going in with my own bag of fries from Five Guys!! ) But
I must disagree with the other reviewer. Kilwin’s fudge is the best I have had from any commercial outlet. I like it even better than my Aunt Martha’s homemade fudge and she’s a major chocoholic so she really knows how to make chocolate deserts. The thing that I really like about Kilwin’s fudge is that it is properly sweetened. Most fudge is so over sweet that it makes your mouth tingle but Kilwin’s sweetened perfectly….sweet enough to taste great but not overpowering.Their Maple Walnut fudge is really good too. Sweet and smooth and not at all grainy like some Maple fudge (graininess is caused sugar recrystalizing).Right now I’m enjoying some of their Pecan Brittle.Pros + Quality product with good serviceCons – It’s a little pricey but the quality makes up for that
I recently just went to Zebra and I have to say it was DELICIOUS! I got the lamb tenderloind diablo, which was sooo tender and cooked to perfection. I recommend it. I also got the jumbo crab cake which was pretty good too. The place can be a little pricey so for those of you that don’t want to spend all that money I found a place online called halfoffdepot. They have a deal where you pay just $20 and you’ll receive a $50 certificate to eat there. Trust me it’s worth it. Got to the charlotte section….go check it out.Pros + Excellent food and service
I have been going to Carpe Diem for years but only since it arrived at its current location on Elizabeth. It is my favorite birthday and New Year’s Eve restaurant and that is saying something because I have eaten just about everywhere. I am a vegetarian, my husband is a meat eater and we both love the food. I always have plenty of menu options and that is rare for a vegetarian! It is a little more expensive that Pewter Rose but definitely along the same theme. They have one of the coolest bars in Charlotte but you will only find adults drinking here. If the idea of another boring steakhouse puts you to sleep and you are ready to spend $100+ for a dinner for two, don’t hesitate to try it!
