Where is the Best Dessert in Austin, Texas?

All I can say is that it was the best meal I have ever had in this city, hands down. I have lived in Miami, NYC, and London, and France… I have eaten every where worth wild and I can’t remember a meal quite so good. The inventions this Chef “Lawrence Kocurek ” has brought to town are defiantly a reflection of his NYC culinary background. We started the meal with a Sushi dish that was Hamachi two ways, both in tartare form and the grilled Collar, my favorite… it was to die for, subtle in the tartare and assertive flavors in the collar. Next we had the Hearts of Palm Salad with Truffle dressing, get this Chef Kocurek made the prosciutto that is in the salad in house, the waiter said it has taking a year to mature…who does that outside of NYC and other great cities. The salad was fantastic. Then for entree my wife and I had the “Opakapaka” Hawaiian Snapper and I had the Loin of Lamb…blown away the Lamb was cooked to perfection and looked like a steak the way it was prepar

The owner Tanalee is simply enchanting; a hostess perfectly matched to the setting. I felt like I was at a friends house for a party. The courtyard is rustic, surrounded by historic buildings, and the mismatched retro yard fruniture will only adds to the feeling like you’re at your aunts house for a party.I’d never even heard of the place and went there to deliver an antique light fixture. Although I’m normally shy to the point of being anti-social, the regulars kept me talking non-stop until last call. This would be the perfect spot for a second or third date for an artsy/intellectual couple that want to relax and chat in a pseudo intimate setting, without being hurried & hounded by the wait staff or uptight yuppies.PLUS– you can smoke here!!! Pros + Amazing food, charming owner & friendly regularsCons – none

The cuisine (notice I did not say food) was exquisite. My only issue with out visit was the service. I was having a bad day, so I certainly will not hold it against them. With only three tables present when we arrived, our greet time was a little long. Our appetizer arrived with our entree which annoyed me and the high-ball glasses jammed packed full of ice did not leave much room for iced tea. However, I said I was cranky that evening so ignore that part. The great part was the crisp tasty Gyoza (dumplings). We chose pork for our filling. They were crispy on the outside and filled with yummy stuff on the inside. I had the Tofu Pad Thai. It was a little spicy, which I like. The tofu was a little chewy, but the flavors were awesome. My dinner partner had the red curry chicken. It could have used a little more kick, but every Thai place is different and you are always cautious about ordering too hot. We did not have room to try the sushi, but it looked great and reasonably

The first time my girlfriend and I went, I could smell the chocolate fondue from outside as we walked up from the valet. I was very excited, after all for any chocoholic, this was HEAVEN! We had a great time, but just had dessert. A short time later, my husband and I went there for a nice dinner. It was quiet, but not eariliy so, romantic, but comfortable, and unlike most experiences when eating out, it was very relaxing! This was an unexpected surprise to me because I was intimidated to cook my own food. What if we mess it up and then don’t like it? Do we get to start over? What happens? My mind began wondering. Not to worry…the waitstaff has it all under control! They can guide you using your tastes and likes/dislikes based on the answers to some questions. This is going to be great, my mind began changing. After all, we had salad and cheese fondue already and both were to say the least, OUTSTANDING! (And I am not a cheese fan!) SO, needless to say, dinner came and wen

My husband and I ate there with a couple of friends. I had the Tuna Melt (juicy and savory!) and hubby had a Double Flatty Burger (also excellent). The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. You can choose to eat in the dining room, which has the feel of a classic burger joint. Or you can go eat on the “Back Patio” which is a LARGE deck area with an assortment of tables and a HUGE bigscreen TV where they show sports games. If you eat out there, you can have your dog with you. They even have theme nights especially for people and their dogs. I wish I could eat there regularly, but I live too far away from Austin!Pros + excellent food, fun relaxed atmosphereCons – There are no Hubs close to where I live!
