Where is the Best Dessert in Austin, Texas?
Have had a calzone and the Stromboli, love the dough and they are large! The only thing I have a complaint with is they need to have a “special” or something as I like onions, green peppers, pepperoni etc and there is no way I am paying extra for each ingrediant so what starts at about 7 dollars ends up about 11-12–that is too much. Can get a special at other places, where they do charge a bit more, but honestly, one is not using more ingrediants, just less of each. Other than that I would probably eat there more often.Pros + Good good crust on Calzone and StromboliCons – Over priced once you add additional items.
Last night my wife and I went to Bellagio, although a little far from where we live, we couldn’t resist given all of the great reviews. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to our expectations. The atmosphere was cozy, but a little too warm for me. I had sweat dripping off of my forehead all night but, back to the food. The appetizers and salads were very good, but in my opinion it’s pretty hard to mess those up. My wife had the bistecca tuscany, which was bland at best. It tasted like something I could have made at home with some bottled ragu. I had a salmon special which was ok, but not mind blowing. The wine list seemed fine, so no disappointments there. It’s definitely going to be hard for you not to try Bellagio given the number of great reviews, but given the cost, in the end, don’t say I didn’t warn you.It’s very unlikely we’ll ever head out there again, unless it’s at the request of someone else. My boyfriend and I booked a room here for a weekend on priceline and got a great price! The bedding was ridiculously comfortable and there was a great flat screen tv and ipod player/alarm clock. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful as we were in town for a wedding and needed our clothes to be pressed. the only con was that we thought we were going to be able to walk to 6th street but didn’t want to walk that far (it’s really not that far but there’s a bridge) however, the cab ride wasn’t expensive at all. The pool was really nice as well, i believe it was a saltwater pool and is literally next to the river. I will definitely stay here the next time im in town. Sweetish Hill is my go-to place for birthday cakes. They’re always just sweet enough without being cloying, and I’ve never tried one I didn’t like. They’re also reasonably priced (why go to HEB when you can get a cake for the same price that has icing made out of buttercream, not crisco?) and beautiful. Their cookies are amazing.
