Where is the Best Dessert in Austin, Texas?
This is an excellent restaurant to take your significant other or your loved one for fine dining. It has dim lighting, an intimate setting?.the ambiance perfect. The cuisine along with the presentation of it all is exquisite. Nothing on the menu will leave you disappointed; even the water they serve is fantastic?.it?s the best I?ve ever had. The only downside to the restaurant is the service. Please understand my critique is solely based on one that existed from dining in a large group. I should also mention that I frequent fine restaurants on the regular, so I have an idea of what to expect. I feel that a restaurant of this price and caliber, the service could have been much swifter and taken to the next level. There was about a 30-minute lag in between courses, crumbs were never cleared from the table, and the piece de resistance was when the food to be taken home was presented in a plastic white grocery bag. Once you have a bundt cake from MadCakes, no others will suffice. They’re filling and tasty and all-around great! My favorite is the cinnamon swirl, but the double chocolate chip cake is wonderful, as well. Now I will proceed to rant re: the below user. If you’re rushing to buy your special someone a cake because you forgot, going to a small, bake-as-they’re-ordered bakery is probably a little short-sighted. They make these fresh and with the intention to sell them the day they’re made, so they won’t be keeping a lot of cakes lying around like a grocery (and I imagine the ones they do have will be snatched up pretty quickly). Secondly, these cakes are bundt cakes with large, tasty stripes of icing (best icing ever) going down the sides, which I bet are impossible to write “happy birthday” on. If you want to add a little fun into a dining experience, try fondue! It helps that my colleague had been to other franchises, knew the scoop, and had suggestions for ordering. It’s a good menu selection; and while the portions aren’t huge, the pacing of them, the fondue prep, the dipping, the cooking time, helps the diner moderate consumption – give yourself and your party time to enjoy; you will be satisfied by the end of dessert. We started with the traditional gruyere cheese fondue dipping bread and veggies, followed by the salad, then the main entree (choice meats cooked shabu-shabu style by boiling in broth), and finally the chocolate/marshmallow/oreo cookie fondue. Whether you want to enjoy a nice dessert and gelato, or maybe some wine outside, Dolce Vita is the place for you! After having some food at Mothers or maybe Hyde Park Grill, I recommend taking a date here for some dessert and some nice beverages to compliment it. This place also has happy hour with some nicely priced martinis! I strongly recommend this as a nice date spot for some nice ice cream or wine outside to maybe some hot coffee and dessert inside!
