Where is the Best Deli in Los Angeles, California?
Greenblatts is my first stop at the early signs of a cold for their incredible matzo ball soup. It has one giant matzo ball that is the perfect consistency with a generous amount of chicken and vegetables as well. Their sandwich menu can be intimidating, but typically the more complicated, the better. I usually opt for one of their specialty sandwiches like the turkey pastrami on rye that comes with Russian dressing, coleslaw and swiss cheese (instead of just a turkey sandwich that is relatively dry due to the lack of condiments). Greenblatts also boasts an impressive alcohol selection with tons of different wines and hard-to-find liquor all at reasonable prices. It’s a great place to drop in for lunch or dinner (especially since they’re open until 2am), but also very convenient for pick-up on a rainy afternoon.Pros + Matzo ball soup, Tossed salad, Specialty sandwiches, Beverage selection, Helpful staffCons – No grilled sandwich, soup combination (grilled cheese is best to d
The morning of July 27th, I saw a lovely young lady tie her two small dogs to a table leg so she could get a sandwich, the puppies paniced, no fault of the young woman, she tried to save her pets as they were dragging the table into danger, and a vase broke, I then ask the young lady if all was Ok, No she said in tears, he made me pay 10.00 for the vase, so folks beware, it could be costly to take your children to this cafe, if they break it, you own it. Shame on this owner, he didn’t care about the woman or her littles puppies safety. Shame!!!!! I wish to add to this review, I know this lovely lady as she has been doing my hair for several years, I spoke with her last evening, and she is a loving soul, she forgave the owner and says the food there is fabulous and she is very interested in small business’s excelling in this economy and she will certainly eat their she told me, and requested that my family and anyone who has the opportunity, to eat at the Food Lab do so, as she said the
I?m a big fan of Factors? flavorful knishes, juicy and tender pastrami sandwiches, crispy potato pancakes, and ironically for a deli, its tantalizingly cheesy mozzarella sticks. The restaurant has a relatively new buffet line of hot, side-dish deli classics, including mac & cheese as well as mashed potatoes. Rich pretty much sums up the majority of the desserts Factors offers, including its lemon and brownie bars as well as its blackout chocolate cake. You can order off the menu in the dining room, decorated with movie posters and other memorabilia, or get take-out from deli and dessert counter. The restaurant also delivers to within a three-mile radius, but service is slow, so be sure to put in your order a good two hours before you want to eat. What also makes Factors unique among the other delis in the Pico-Robertson region is that a) it?s not a kosher restaurant b) it?s open from Friday to Saturday night during the weekly Jewish Sabbath.
Without hesitation I can say this is your best bet for GREAT deli fare. My family has been eating at Brent’s since the joint opened, and we’ve never been dissapointed with the food or the service. The catering is awesome for a low-key get together.Over the years I spent many a hot Sunday afternoon waiting patiently for a table. As the minutes passed I daydream about the tasty chicken noodle soup, the succulent hot pastrami sandwich (or Monte Cristo…depending on our mood), the decadent chocolate eclair. Sometimes when I don’t have the time to wait, I phone in my order to-go and bypass the line!Pros + Tasty tasty tasty!Cons – Decor is stuck in 1978, but this may actually contribute to the awesomeness.
Bay cities was the first sandwhich i ever liked. I get the same thing every time, a soppresatta with the works and mild peppers, its to die for. I went to school in New York city and found nothing that could compare. However the lines can be long and if you order online your food can be soggy. Last time I was there I found an eyelash in my sandwhich was gross to say the least. However, it did not turn me away from the place.Pros + Best Sandwichs, european foods not found in most marketsCons – not very clean
