Where is the Best Dance Club in Austin, Texas?
So in the heart of Austin party zone down an alley that looks unclean is the entrance to Speakeasy. You walk in this poorly designed club where you are ushered to walk by the bar in a small cramped place once the club gets going. You see guests from college hipsters, old bikers with ridiculouly long bleached hair (dudes), to the I’m still cool yuppy crowd out before their babysitter time is up.Downstairs is just not very nice and it looks like part is under construction (I hope). You then walk up 3 flights to the roof where a Miami feel starts (so out of place with downstairs). Kind of nice albeit the fans don’t help with the heat at all.Note – get misters. Now.We sat with friends for a party and were moved across the polace to a new seating that opened up….2 chairs to us. Why we listened to the manager I have no idea. They seem young.Our waitress would squeeze up to the table with our special order drink and basically stood with her behind in one person’s face. Uh, hel
I haven’t been to Dallas Nightclub in about 5 years, but, the description fits exactly what I remember about it. I am living in Illinois right now and have lived all over the country since being to Dallas Nightclub, but, haven’t found any place lik eit since and can’t wait to get back home to Texas so I can go back to Dallas and have a few drinks, do some heavy dancing and maybe even get a chance do do some “bullriding” if they still do that. lol I should be back around springtime of 2003. Unfortunately I was unable to step in this club because my 27 year old friend was told first that she did not look like her driver’s license and then her License was a fake. We spoke to Jeff, the bouncer, and Jerry the manager. My friend is not a size 2. She is a beautiful shapely Hispanic woman. I was so exited to go to this club, but I never felt so discriminated in my life. We stopped by two other bars to check if her ID did in fact look fake. They both told us that her ID was fine and she looked like the picture. We then spoke to two Police officers who said there was nothing wrong with her ID. I never experience this kid of prejudicial treatment in any Austin Bar or Club. I hope to never experience it again.
This is the place to go to just relax and hang out with some friends during HH or early on a weekend. The bartenders are all very cool, especially Bobby Cook! If you can make it during the week late-night, definitely get to know the other bartenders working ’cause it will be easier to be seen on those packed weekends if they recognize you. All of the patio staff, regardless of what day, are great. There is also a great mix of people here, from twinks to daddys, drag queens to flaming queens, butch to b*tch.Pros + Great drinks and musicCons – Like all things downtown, PARKING!!
