Where is the Best Cuban Food in San Francisco, California?

This place is absolutely delicious. Hidden away in Duboce Triangle, it’s the most authentic Cuban food in the city. Guacamole, Yuca con Mojo, and Bistec Empanizado with black beans/rice and sweet plantains. It’s never busy, which concerns me since I don’t want them to ever go away.Pros + Amazing food, not crowded, neighborhood feelCons – Not crowded enough

I live in Hayes Valley and have taken many dates and friends to Laurels, and I will continue to. In a town where all the “meals” have become 3 peas and a carrot “tapas plates” it’s nice to get back to a place that serves decent portions at fair prices. I’ve had some form of fish everytime I have been there and it’s always to die for, the salads are good too. I can’t vouch for “real” Cuban Resturants like some of the other reviewers claim too, but I am a bit of a food snob and this place is comfortable casual and good… Period. Pros + Great Food, service is friendly, open lateCons – Can be noisy, but hey it’s a great place to eves drop too..

We drove over 100 miles to eat at this place, even after reading the reviews. We were seated right away and ordered right away but it took over an hour to get our meals. The service was super slow but friendly. There was only one server and one cook. After waiting a half hour I decided to order a pineapple shake, which was ok, I took a big drink and looked down to find a long black hair in my cup. I was so disgusted. I didn’t finish it, but soon after she brought us warm bread and butter then 15 minutes after that our appetizers then 15 minutes after that a soup and our meals. I ordered Chuletas and my husband order Mofongo. The Chuletas (pork chops) were seasoned well but a little over fried and the rice was crunchy LOL I tried the Mofingo and it was decent, very seasoned and garlicy YUM…the check came to close to $40, which isn’t that bad, but I had higher expectations. It can’t compete to the comida in Puerto Rico but it was decent. Sad thing is I don’t think we will be r

Really 3.5 stars, but we can’t do that yet.I’ve been going here since I’ve been able to legally drink. When I was younger it was okay and fun as my young palette didn’t know any better. Now as an older, hopefully more sophisticated diner, I still like the place but I know that there is better food out there, tapas-wise. Now that I’ve vented on that issue, here is how the place is: restaurant itself has a fun vibe. Brick walls, wooden lining over the brick, tables wrapped in floral tablecloths (super bright), a long huge bar, small bar area………….Christmas lights everywhere………Our server was great, she was quick, the food came out within 5 minutes of ordering ( and every table in the place was taken), and she was on top of keeping our water pitcher filled, and our sangria pitcher filled. She checked in constantly, and left us alone when we still needed time to think. We ordered the sauteed mushrooms, fried plantains, fried calamari, Cajun shrimp, fried potatoes
