I live about 8 blocks east of Sabor a Cuba but had never been; so when a co-worker suggested a team dinner here, I was pretty excited. We had 6 p.m. reservations on a Friday and the place was already pretty busy; there was a steady stream of customers throughout the evening. The food was quite good! I had the Boliche, which was so tender I could cut it with a spoon. The black beans were awesome as well, and I really enjoyed the plantains. Other members of my party had the oxtail stew (reported as delicious), the grilled pork chops (OK), the garlic shrimp (which was a REALLY tiny serving), and a meal of the tamale/papa relleno/empanada (good). The atmosphere was fun and lively, but our waitress was pretty odd — she asked us to share menus because they were running short, and only gave 3 of the 6 of us any water because they were running low on water glasses. I also got the distinct impression that she didn’t care one way or the other how we were enjoying our meal. On a second v

I really can’t agree with people that are “in love” with a restaurant or that really hate it because it’s horrible. I think all places are in the middle. Some have bad dishes, but good atmosphere and drinks. Other can have great food but the place itself may be ugly or with no class. Some are beautiful locations but the food its just bad. Cafe Bolero has a nice balance overall: The place used to be cheaper but after a complete renovation of the main area, the increased prices a bit. No you can find better furniture, and the lighting its more classy. Now, the good part: FOOD.-The repertoire its pretty good, but of course, it won’t be so attractive for veggie people (Go to cuba and ask people around “Who is vegetarian?! They will laugh at you!) The carne asada is one of the best stakes I ever had. Cooked to perfection and so tender! Black beans and rice with lots of flavor, and that butter and bread that you can’t have enough. The Pulpo a la Plancha its well done and full of flavor too.

What a fantastic find! Great food – reasonable prices. BYOB (with liquor store across the street) is a huge plus. Not as hip or sophisticated as most of Andersonville – but food is great and that is what matters! Would hate for this place to become too popular, but the neighbors need to come out to keep this gem in business!! You won’t be disappointed in the food or value!

I recently went to Cafe LaGuardia with a relatively large party, we were 8 and we had a enjoyable experience. It was a Thursday night and they took reservations. The atmosphere at Cafe LaGuardia is festive and attractive. The walls are full of beautiful colors and decor. I found the ropa vieja, which is perhaps one of the more popular Cuban dishes to be outstanding. I found the meat tender and flavorful. The addition of green peppers with the meat was fabulous. The rice and black beans complimented the dish perfectly, of course. I will certainly plan to return for the ropa vieja. In addition, the Brazilian red snapper was cooked perfectly and paired nicely with shrimp and rice. I also thought the plantains were delicious and not greasy, which is the way I prefer to eat them. The waiter was very attentive and kind. However, my one complaint was the host. He was very disorganized and overwhelmed. He neglected to tell me I couldn’t add my pre dinner drink onto the bill, which I would have
