Where is the Best Country Bar in Portland, Oregon?
Went early for the dance lesson on Sat nite, teacher was great! Have been to Duke’s, this crowd is a little older which I like. Great music, great bartender’s! We danced so much, would have loved to have a little more a/c but everyone was really nice including a gentlemen who was patient enough to teach us some new partner dances. Definitely going back!Pros + Great music and dance floor!Cons – More a/c please
The thing I like most about this place is that there’s plenty of room to shoot. So many bars/poolhalls try to squeeze too many tables into too little space. The result is no-place to sit without being in the way and the constant “I beg your pardon but I’m gonna need to shoot right through you here”. Not so at BossaNova. The quality of their tables is great downstairs…with both 8 and 9 foot tables with top quality surface. Upstairs is a little less accommodating so show up early on the busy nights. Oh, and somebody buy these folks a ball cleaner…I’ve found some pretty big chunks of gunk stuck to those things from time to time. The food here kicks butt. Don’t expect a burger and fries, we’re talking more like shrimp alfredo and spring mix salad. The happy hour menu makes fine dining plus good pool extremely affordable till 8pm…much later than most. The beer selection is spotty at best…it’s clear that they’re going for the craft-brew appeal, but the Centenial IPA is waaaaay over ho
Dukes is a cool place…I used to go there back when it was The Drum. I gotta say…this place needs to cancel the DJ crap and start getting live country music bands again, like the old days. It’s the ONLY reason I won’t be back on a regular basis. The food was good, as were the drinks, but I can listen to CD’s at home…I NEED LIVE MUSIC! There are a few country bands around that can do the job…One is Blue Moon Highway, there are some others. But this place NEEDS live music on a regular basis. Just my opinion.
