Where is the Best Conversation Bar in Dallas, Texas?
We were in Dallas from the ‘burbs and went to Louie’s for dinner. We had heard great things about it. The food was good….not great. All our entrees came out at different times. One person was done before the other 2 were served. After waiting at least 15 minutes for the other 2 entrees to arrive, they came and one was cold, the other one was warm, but not hot.We enjoyed their clam chowder and their greek salad. Both were outstanding. The pizza was great for thin crust. We prefer a thicker and chewier crust, but we knew before we went the type of pizza they had. The pizza sauce was outstanding. The meatball sub was good, would have been better if it had arrived hot, not just warm. The chicken and broccoli was perfectly cooked and yummy….but ice cold. We couldn’t understand why both weren’t hot, since we waited over 15 minutes for it after the other things were served. The service is only fair and sort of friendly. I don’t think it is the waitresses fault, though. Fa
I love this place. Who knew you could have a real winery in the middle of Dallas. The place is a cross between a hip urban lounge and a winery that you might find in Napa. I was introduced to Times Ten by a friend and now I bring all of my friends. I recommend doing a tasting on your first visit where you can choose what you like. They have a very attractive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff but your best bet is to find one of the 3 owners. One of them is always there and I like getting their recommendations. If they have time they will even take you on a tour. They have a limited food menu but let you bring in food or even have it delivered. I’ve seen their wines on a few local menus and I hope to see even more places serve their wines. My only complaint is that there prices are a little high for bottles to take home. Check out the monthly wine special and you can find a deal. Pros + Personal serviceCons – retail wine costs are a little high
From the fish sandwich to the chicken fried steak to the tuna melt – YUM! This is one downtown bar/restaurant where no one is putting on ‘airs’ – and they don’t have to – what they offer speaks for itself! Real, genuine, friendly staff, amazing food (I mean everything on the menu is fantastic), great bar selection, super-clean and plasma screen TVs scattered throughout – it’s all there. And the prices are way reasonable. I’ve been there during peak lunch rush times and on several occasions have watched the Mavs games there in the evenings – always entertaining. This is a perfect downtown location to meet before/after a game or concert – hang with friends – watch a game – without having to compromise food/service quality. I highly recommend. We even used the place for a private party/reception – all our guests (approx. 100?) were AMAZED. Press Box Grill – corner of Elm/Ervay. Pros + Food, service, atmosphere, location!Cons – Don’t forget to pay your meter! Still cheaper than lot p
Had a few pints today and thought I put in my two cents. In amist of overly trendy (over priced) bars this is the real deal.Great drinks, reasonable prices and a cozy pub feel.I hate to give a good review because I don’t want this little gem to become the Dubliner. If you know the feel of a cozy pub this is the place..Pros + Great pub feelCons – ????
