Where is the Best Chinese Food in Detroit, Michigan?
My wife loves the chow-fun. I on the other hand am Asian and think the food is like… expensive imitation Chinese fast food….Honestly, I don’t think the food is that bad, and my wife loves the place.. so I will give it a shaky thumbs up.I say this with my wife looming behind me…Pros + chow-fun and the cool horse statues in the front… surroundings…Cons – a bit expensive… extremely crowded… get ready for an hour wait… actually… without reservations, forget about it!!!!!!!!! (my wife is chuckling behind me)
I highly highly highly recommend this restaurand for several reasons.First, the service is superb. I’ve always said that you can go anywhere to get good food, but what people remember is the service. When you walk in you are greeted with a warm smile, and when you leave you always get a thank you…whether it be from the hostess or from one of the owners from behind the bar, they make a point to let you know they are thankful you chose their restaurant. It isn’t just the regulars that get the warm greetings and goodbyes…I always sit at the bar and eat, so I am near the door and can hear them. It is literally every person that walks in the door that is made to feel like they have been coming their all their lives! Secondly, the food. Earlier I said that you can get good food from anywhere…because I believe that if you are a restaurant , especially in this economic time, that you server “good” food…and people are relatively satisfied. Pretty good Chinese food, I haven’t been there in years (I move from that side of town). But when I did eat there it was pretty good. Sometimes I used to get a half pound or 3/4 of a pound of fried shrimp from across the street (E & S Shimps) of Golden Bowl then I get some Chinese food, the combination was very good. The Golden Bowl must be doing something right, they been there over 20 years!
Before my fiance and I moved into the area, I couldnt get her to even consider eating chinese food. Then one day I brought the Boneless Almond Chicken home from the Peking House and changed her life forever!! I think they are very presistant with service and the quality of the food is very well presented. I like the speed of service. if you want chinese food and it is not a special night then this is the place to satisfy a craving. the service is so so fast that you think they have it waiting for you in the back the whole time. sometimes the food is off like one week it tastes great and the next week the same dish tastes different. overall this place is good for a family dinner but not for anything out of this world.Pros + fast, in and out time
