Where is the Best Chinese Food in Detroit, Michigan?
Rose Garden is a great restaurant for chinese food…I have been going there my entire life and the quality hasn’t waivered. The waitstaff however is not so great…you get your food quickly and it’s always right but there not very personable and sometimes and be pretty rude. So if you have to ability to ignore your waitresses attitude…the food is worth it.Pros + Best Egg Rolls in DetroitCons – the waitstaff
Small, personal restaurant. Very well done basics at an extremely low price. The co owners cook and take orders, respectively, and many of the regulars (and there are many) are known by name and their preferences remembered. China Ruby has consistantly won polls as the best low cost Chinese establishment in the metropolitan area. My personal low cal favorite is Moo Shoo chicken, without pancakes, made with extra pea pods and extra bean sprouts. Wonderful food in a totally low key environment. Very fast service.Pros + great food
Maybe it’s a little unfair to judge this restaurant based on our most recent experiences, we recently relocated here from New York. However, I thought the meal was fair, not excellent like I expected based on the ratings in some local magazines. I will try it again, and try different dishes. You might understand when sampling food at any restaurant, typically you are seeking a specific flavor or taste, and I didn’t find it that night. Maybe it wasn’t as tasty because it was carry-out, or maybe they were having an off night.Pros + priced well, friendly staffCons – mediocre
The opportunity to try Mon Jin Lau finally happened last night when friends from California and I (a local) were doing a surprise bday for another amiga. Two weeks prior, I had read about their restaurant in a passed issue of Hour Detroit magazine while waiting in my dentist?s office. I found the family story very interesting; and reading some of the negatives comments below really shows how much some Chinese restaurant owners are. Coming from a Thai food establishment here, there?s nothing but appreciation and excitement for MJL. Complimentary valet parking was nice, The owner?s son were very good-looking and professional, staff was cool and so was the decor. But hands down, the best part was when the conga drummer and saxophone player came around to heighten things up?I beat the heck of that drum and I hope I get to do it again next time! I ordered the salmon on the beach just because other comments on here suggested it and wanted to check it out. It was delicious! Also, had the sash
