Where is the Best Chinese Food in Austin, Texas?
Pao’s is the best overall Chinese restaurant in town. Two of my Chinese friends, one from Hong Kong and the other from Taiwan, recommended me to go there. I have been going to this restaurant for over decades since I moved to Austin. They are a family-run restaurant that is very friendly to the repetitious customers (unlike Din-Ho). The owners are always there to control quality in service and food. My recommendation is to order food from Chinese menu, not American one. They can prepare the same foods in both CHINESE STYLE and American Chinese style for various customers. Three Cup Chicken and Scallion Pancakes are some of my favorite food from menu.Pros + Various choices from two different menu and tasty foodCons – It is too far away from where the action is
Tien Hong can get really crowded for Dim Sum on Sundays, and after eating there you will see why! I have never been to this restaurant for regular chinese food, but this huge place does serve awesome Dim Sum. If you have never had Dim Sum before, I strongly recommend coming here to expericence it. It isn’t the best I have ever had, but for anywhere in Austin it is the best (althought there arent that many places). The prices are decent if not cheap. There were times where the service took awhile to refill our drinks or for the cart we wanted to come by. If you really want a certian cart to come by, just ask any of the servers what you want and they will bring you some! Come here for to share in the expericence of eating dim sum with some friends for a cool time and great food!Pros + Great for Dim SumCons – So-so for everthing else
The staff is awesome. They are very friendly and helpful. We had a bunch of questions about the entrees, and they didn’t make us feel as if we were bothering them. The Tom Yum seafood soup was delicious, but a little short on seafood. Our entrees were excellent- fresh and prepared perfectly (especially the vegetables). The service was always prompt, the food hot and good, and their selection is pretty extensive!
I visited for the first time after hearing about it a couple weeks ago. I am always looking for good Chinese food, and Chinese BBQ is even harder to find! I was very impressed with the quality of the service and food, and it was fun to have a large group so we could all share! The more traditional Chinese dishes were definitely great and everyone enjoyed them, great crab wontons, and the BBQ dishes were awesome… you have to try the Peking Duck!! I would recommend for small and large groups, the menu seemed to have an option for everyone. I will definitely be back soon to try the dishes I was too full to order! Pros + Good Variety and Family Style for Sharing!
Take from someone who knows: this is the real deal. The menu has authentic Chinese food and authentic bad Chinese restaurant service. Most people expect good service at restaurants, but trust me, most good chinese restaurants have bad service. The food is most important and they know it. From the duck to the chinese bbq pork, it’s definitely worth visiting. asianaustin dot com.Pros + food, ambienceCons – service
