Where is the Best Chill Scene in Seattle, Washington?
While visiting friends in Seattle last month (I’m from Berkeley, CA) they invited me out to The Sitting Room in lower Queen Anne. We enjoyed the festive atmosphere and delicious appetizers so much on Saturday night we decided to go back again on Monday. This was such a great little place I thought I should help spread the word.On Saturday, the first thing I noticed was the charming owner, who greeted us at the door and promptly found us a clean table in front. The place was beginning to fill up but his friendly manor seemed to foretell the kind of evening we were to have. Our handsome young waiter patiently answered our questions on the unique small plates menu and he soon filled our table with cocktails (I loved the gin drink with fresh thyme) and tasty dishes that more than satisfied (chorizo with blue cheese & dates, cold-smoked wild salmon, and pate made with free-range nitrate-free pork). The other patrons were obviously having a great time too so the infectious spirit carried
Smash is an awesome place to go if you like wine! You can order over 30 wines by the glass and even by the 1/2 glass if you would like to try out a few. OR even better, get the wine flights if you like a particular type of wine, and you’ll get 3 1/2 glasses to compare and contrast. I got the Left Bank/Right Bank flight (btw, their website is not up to date) and this gave me a chance to taste 3 wines from different areas in the Bordeaux region for $18. I thought this was a great deal for the quality of wines I got! Ok, enough about wine.Their strong suit, food-wise, is their nibbles. Perfect to pair with wine (or without)! We had the Marcona Almonds w/rosemary and sea salt. I could tell they warmed the nuts in the oven with a few sprigs of fresh rosemary to bring out the oils and it was delicious, warm and perfect for nibbling on with a glass of wine! We also had the hummus platter which was very good as well, although the hummus was a bit thick for my tastes (think paste in a jar). I
Lottie’s does a lot of things remarkably, excellent drinks including house made cucumber infused vodka as well as other at-will concoctions (sangria in the summertime). The food is consistently excellent considering the teeny-tiny kitchen and the vibe is friendly, strangers actually converse, and you don’t have to be from the neighborhood to feel at home. Service is friendly, the new weekend brunch is the best of the cheap eats, don’t dare forget the fantastic bloody mary.
Seems like Mona’s just started with their Sunday brunch offering. Went there recently and we were alone with one other couple in the restaurant which isn’t a bad thing if you’re tired of hectic brunch settings with cramped tables and poor service.The brunch menu is reasonably priced and the food tastes great. We even received a complimentary house made donut which was fantastic and I’m pretty sure the owner waited on our table which was a treat. Give the Sunday brunch a try. You won’t be disappointed.
