I want to like this place. I really, really do. Have been upwards of ten times because I live on Orchard Str. but have yet to leave and not feel used. They absolutely have one of the best burger anywhere, a delicious combo of ground beef, capers and beets served on an English muffin. Really top flight. Which is why one keeps going back and hoping to feel better about it. But I can’t help but feel they do not care that I’m there and that I’m making them go out of their way. I enjoy the shabby chic look and the crowd can be a really textured mix of hipster locals and weathered Euro-types who look as though they’re in port for the afternoon. So excellent people-watching to go with delicious mixed drinks. But there seems to be a disconnect between the kitchen and the dining room. Orders got lost, came wrong, items come at all different times; it’s a new thing every time. Oh and those charming steel framed glass windows? Allow for an insanely cold dining experience in the winte

I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite bars in the city. I’ve gone to the Dove a handful of times and always had such a pleasant experience whether I was on a date or just with friends after work. So last week I decided to throw my sister’s 30th birthday party there. Of course, I always stress out when I am the host and I know how picky my sis can be, so needless to say, I was worried and wanted everything to be perfect. And it was! The Dove is so festive and pretty inside so its perfect for special occasions. We reserved a table ahead of time so we had space and the staff was so so kind to us…really lovely people. We ordered light snacks from the food menu and they even had these cute mini cakes. And its official, I’m addicted to the french lavender cocktail!Pros + beautiful interior, accomodating staff, great snacksCons – You might get addicted to the lavender martini 😉

Von is a gem. It would be my first favorite if it were 3 blocks closer to my apartment. Cervantes, Kareem and Luis are my favorites and Happy the pitbull always makes me smile. And who else has Chimay on tap?!Pros + Everything! Atmosphere, Service, Beer / Wine Selection… PERFECTCons – Can’t think of a one. Oh – gets a bit busier than I’d like on weekends, but everywhere downtown does.

Great place for a cozy Saturday night drink. We did not experience the service problems others noted. Wonderful selection of scotches. I would recommend skipping the flight, though, because at $40, you get only 6 0.5 oz samples. With some small plates of food (excellent) and a few scotches, you can get to $150 pretty quickly.

People always write reviews about how mean doormen are in Manhattan, and I would like to write a good review about the doormen at Libations. It was absolutely freezing out last night, and my girlfriend and I were standing on line at LIbation. When we got to the front we were greeted nicely by the doorman, but we had to wait while he let a few parties go in front of us. We didn’t complain, and stood there patiently, and the doorman was so nice to us, and he gave us some free drink tickets because he made us wait in the cold while he let the other parties go in front of us. We were also greeted very nicely by the other doorman when we walked in. Such a nice experience for once. I definitely enjoyed my night more once I got inside. Nice doormen DO exist in Manhattan!
