Nice wood interior with two fireplaces and an excellent beer selection. Parking is difficult and the televisions are small. Worse, they will not put on news or close captioning because “the owner would rather people talk than stare at a television!” The food was tasty. This place is best for it’s good pub grub and the Irish feel! If your Irish like me you will find no where to feel more at home at! The Shepards Pie, and Fish & Chips are great and you can wash it all down with a pint of cider or gunniss! Live music and good cheer abound every weekend and sometimes throughout the week.
Looking for good food at a decent price in a relaxed atmosphere, Eli’s is the place to go to (or one of them.) I read the reviews on citysearch and do not agree with the negative ones IN THE SLIGHTEST. While the ambiance is typical of an older, dark bar, the food is quite fantastic actually. Weekly specials on the wall all tend to be excellent. The hot dogs are always a good choice, the lobster chowder is wonderful, the turkey and asparagus sandwhich healthy and tasty, and the ravioli (squash, walnuts, gorgonzola) is an endulgement worth the calories. The service is just fine here. My experience have been positive. They get you what you want in a timely fashion. I have gone to the Liffey many times on Fridays after work for happy hour. They have tasty corn beef and cabbage and serve Finnigans ale. Life is good when sitting on the terrace drinking a fine local beer and having Irish food. I was a waitress for many years before I got my sit-on-my-butt office job and I have a lot of respect for anyone working in a busy restaurant. They have an efficient waitstaff, The only negative thing is that before a Wild game when the place starts to get very busy, it appears that they try to move people out quickly. My co-workers and I have received our bill without asking if we wanted anything else and there were a couple of times that we were not ready to leave and were ready to order another beer. Aside from that, this is a great place to unwind after work and the terrace is the best.
