Where is the Best Cheesesteak in San Francisco, California?
They use soft, long, thin bread for their sandwiches, so if you have a big appetite, you really need to order the 10″ for $6. The 15″ costs almost $10. Expect long lines during lunch hour and low on ambiance. Add a lge French fries or sm onion ring & 32oz soda for another $3. Many of the patrons are students, construction workers looking for an inexpensive meal. The onion rings are great as well as the chicken/cheese/mushroom sandwiches. Not a great dine-in atmosphere, better to take out unless you’re really dressed down in your grubbies. You can get a card stamped and after 10 purchases, get a free sandwich.Pros + inexpensive, quickCons – long lines, poor atmosphere
Jay’s has great sandwiches — I’m a veggie, and love their veggie cheesesteaks. But even better is the Avocado and Cheddar – maybe the best sandwich I’ve ever had! My meat-eating companion also gives very high marks to the regular cheesesteak. Garlic fries are great too. However, if you want to change any ingredients on your sandwich, it seems unlikely that you’ll get it ‘as ordered.’ Every time I’ve tried to make a change, it comes out wrong. So, order what’s on the menu, as is, and it’ll be a damn fine sandwich.
