Where is the Best Celebrity Chef in Portland, Oregon?
Chef Chris Thompson has done an incredible job of presenting excellent Italian Food that compares with the East Coast Italian Dining Experience. We were asked when making our reservation, if anyone in our party had a food allergy the chef should be aware of. A huge bonus before we even arrived. When arriving, we were greeted by a delightful hostess who seated us right away even though our dining companions were running a little late. Erin, (our charming, beautiful, intelligent, and personable waitress was marvelous) assured us not to worry and we had wine and some of the best calamari ever while waiting. When our friends arrived, they were seated immediately and had wine and salad, after which our orders were taken for entrees. Two lasagnas, one catch of the day, and one pasta specialty of the house with Italian sausage. All four, perfectly prepared, served eye appealingly, and delish beyond words.I was invited to come back to the kitchen to meet the chef after offering our co
I love this place. Feels like going home for dinner to the home you wish you had. We eat there 3 times a month and I’ve probably eaten 60 meals there. Everything on the menu is cooked to perfection and served at the right time. The various waiters we’ve had, except for one, have been just perfect additions to the place and our meals. I’d recommend everything on the menu. The hamburger is divine, the seafood salad is generous and tasty, all the specials are special. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the waitress we’ve had the last two times. Friendly but so friendly that she spent more time schmoozing with her dining buddies than attention to taking our order, serving our order and getting us the check. Plus, her size is such that if she’s schmoozing near you you feel cramped.Pros + Anything you orderCons – Servers are so friendly with certain diners that you may get lost in the shuffle
Mothers is what I would describe as one of the perfect dining experiences in Portland, if you go on the weekends order the eggs benny I like to add avocado to mine, which has never been a problem. You want it you get it. If you go for lunch the chopped liver is to die for, ” if you like chop liver”, if not the best thing about Mothers is there is something for everyone, from burgers to salads to eggs and bacon. Just go!Pros + Amazing food, great service, and cocktailsCons – you have to smell the amazing food while you order
This is a lovely place with good and friendly service. The drink and wine lists are very good, albeit a bit overpriced. However we found the food to be just a bit lacking. The crab, cucumber and watermelon appetizer, while an inventive mix of ingredients, lacked flavor. The crab was not fresh, which is inexcusable given the $12 or so price tag. The “loaded” gnocci, again an inventive dish of gnocci, bacon and cheddar, lacked in texture and would seem to benefit from a sauce of some kind. The pizza was good–nice, thin crust and flavors. The pork loin was brined, so cooked to a medium rare. I was open to this but found the texture to be a little weird – very stringy and “raw-like.” But the portion was large and the sauce added a nice flavor. The chocolate tasting dessert was pretty mediocre, with the ice cream having a strange mouth feel. This is a fine place and I will probably go back again (particularly since it’s close by), but at these prices and in a town where the quality and inv
