Where is the Best Business Dining in Austin, Texas?
We went on Mother’s Day & service was awful. We were seated upstairs & our poor server was friendly, but he must have had too many tables assigned to him. Did like the fact that the upstairs was much quieter than the main restaurant. My husband likes to come at lunch, the lunch prices are much more reasonable.Best rolls in town. Mother & I ate 2, lost count on my husband!Food was quite tasty. My S.O. and I dropped by the Bistro at a family member’s recommendation. We couldn’t decide between the sushi bar and the dining room, but eventually we opted for the plush chairs and white tablecloths in the main room (you can get sushi anywhere in the place). There are, incidentally, some pretty excellent paintings on the walls, which don’t exactly make sense alongside the blue aquariums of fake jellyfish and waterfalls, but whatever.My S.O. and I both get easily overwhelmed by the size of entrees, and the Bistro’s menu was so varied and long, we decided it would be a great chance to taste a lot of little things. We started backwards, in a way, moving from potstickers to the lamb chops appetizer (accompanied by a good glass of cab), then switching to the sushi menu (and sauv blanc). Apologies to food purists who would have reversed the order, but we just ordered what sounded good as we felt like it, and man, it was good that way. We always like the LOCAL recommendations for eating……….interestingly enough, it was not our hotel Valet, but he was a young man living in Austin, his whole life. All I can say is that it was the best meal I have ever had in this city, hands down. I have lived in Miami, NYC, and London, and France… I have eaten every where worth wild and I can’t remember a meal quite so good. The inventions this Chef “Lawrence Kocurek ” has brought to town are defiantly a reflection of his NYC culinary background. We started the meal with a Sushi dish that was Hamachi two ways, both in tartare form and the grilled Collar, my favorite… it was to die for, subtle in the tartare and assertive flavors in the collar. Next we had the Hearts of Palm Salad with Truffle dressing, get this Chef Kocurek made the prosciutto that is in the salad in house, the waiter said it has taking a year to mature…who does that outside of NYC and other great cities. The salad was fantastic. Then for entree my wife and I had the “Opakapaka” Hawaiian Snapper and I had the Loin of Lamb…blown away the Lamb was cooked to perfection and looked like a steak the way it was prepar
My boyfriend and I booked a room here for a weekend on priceline and got a great price! The bedding was ridiculously comfortable and there was a great flat screen tv and ipod player/alarm clock. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful as we were in town for a wedding and needed our clothes to be pressed. the only con was that we thought we were going to be able to walk to 6th street but didn’t want to walk that far (it’s really not that far but there’s a bridge) however, the cab ride wasn’t expensive at all. The pool was really nice as well, i believe it was a saltwater pool and is literally next to the river. I will definitely stay here the next time im in town.
