Where is the Best Burrito in Miami, Florida?
I live in New England, but I go to Miami quite often. When I am on the plane, I am already thinking about San Loco, I cannot wait to go there for their delicious tacos and burritos. If I go there for five days, I am sure that I go there at some point four out of the five, even if it is at 3am at the end of the evening. Their tacos are perfect; I can’t even choose between soft or hard shell, so I have to get both. It is an extremely casual place, order at the counter, either sit there or at one of the few tables. They do an extensive take out service and do deliver locally. Prices are very reasonable, they do serve beer (they have Negra Modela, my favorite dark Mexican beer.) Friendly staff and customers. You could probably go there in your pajamas if you wanted. Try not to have to use the restroom, it is not too pretty.Pros + everything, but mainly the fabulous foodCons – ladies room, but really, just plan around it
I’ve been a fan of this place for years and have been meaning to add my two cents to these reviews. If you like Mexican made with fresh, healthy ingredients, you should definitely try Lime. I’m so tired of Mexican food made with greasy, heavy sauces that just coverup the taste of the actual food. Everything at Lime, from the grilled chicken (that is actually grilled to order) to the homemade salsas is delicious. I’ve never been disappointed by the food there. And contrary to other reports, the people are great! I’ve met the owner and manager a few times and they couldn’t be nicer guys. Personal recommendations are the South Beach Burrito for a healthier take and the Flautas for more of a guilty pleasure. My girlfriend is also partial to the frozen sangria.Pros + Fresh tasting food, reasonable prices and cold beerCons – Long lines, but they do move fast
This is a true Mexican place. No Tex-Mex stuff here. The restaurant is run and owned by Mexicans, which is palpable as soon as you open up the menu. Of course, one page of it is dedicated to –what else?– burritos. And they are good. Try them all, as they are tasty. Make sure you bring an empty stomach and don’t get full on the corn chips. Do ask for their spicy sauce, it has a smoky taste that adds flavor to any of their dishes. Also try the tacos al carbon, a delicious plate of three tacos with prrime quality meat, onions and tomatillo sauce, accompanied by refried beans and Mexican rice. Quench your thirst with a cold Negra Modelo beer or any of the Jarritos soft drinks and you’d swear you are somwehre in Mexico, not in the middle of suburbia in Miami.
As far as less-than-authentic Mexican goes, this place waffles between disappointing and pleasing. I was impressed at first, then they removed my favorite item (mole burrito) from the menu. Over the past few months, I’ve been losing faith in Lime as they’ve been inconsistent with their offerings (burritos have been either swollen and filling or meager and unsatisfying). Their food has always tasted good, but for the concept that they seem to have adopted (somewhere between fast food and casual dining), their prices are too high. I can no longer justify spending $10 for a burrito and iced-t that may or may not be satisfying when I can go across the street to Chipotle and be confident that I know what I’ll get. However, at its best, Lime is 10x better than Chipotle, but I never know when I’ll get Lime’s best and when I’ll get a mediocre effort from them. Suggestion to Lime: at least be a little more consistent with the amount of chips you dole out – sure, it’s nice to get a few mor
